@nellywellyful you should stipple. The beauty blender is a sponge which requires no dragging at all on the skin. It is kinda expensive though and they have knock offs. You could try that. Hope I helped ^-^
@nellywellyfull i remember watching a video that said brushes can act as an exfoliant on dry skin. It actually causes the flakes, and since your adding the foundation, the flakes stay on your skin causing it to look flaky
i heard that for dry skin it is better to apply foundation with a sponge.. so this is why i came across this video. everything on my face when i apply liquid foundation with a brush is fine until we get to my forehead. my forehead looks really flakey & weird
any tips as to how to fix this?? i would really appreciate it!!
Another tip for using a sponge you could dampen it a wee bit to prevent the sponge from absorbing so much of the foundation so you don't waste it. Great video :)
Hi, I really like your videos. Do you think it's possible to stipple with a wet triangle sponge, kind of like with the beauty blender sponge or the sonia kashuk one ?
im not very good at applying foundation so i use this technique, finding it easiest on myself.... my question is...
the skin under my eyes is quite thin and dark and is not at all smooth, often puffy too... i find adding foundation or concealer makes it stand out. even using yellow concealer does not help... what would you recommend?
just found your channel today. love you vids. you're so easy to watch. thanks for the info :)
hey, loving ur foundation ids helps alot, as i am using mineral ones but i know i got the wrong one due to Mary kay rep having crap lighting grrrr....anyways since lookng at ur vids i have started using liquid, i tried gettin the rimmel fix and perfect but unfortunately they dont sell it here in australia, so i went with maybelline mousse as i have used that before, and picked up a few mineral powers also!! and they are great!!
I swear I saw the Rimmel primer at Priceline recently! Maybe it was just my imagination because I wanted it to be there but I'll go and check again just in case. if not, we'll have to wait a few more months...:(
yeh i even went to a diff priceline to see if it was there but it wasnt....ill have a look on their website tho.
Nah i havent tried it as yet, i do use an Alexis Vogal one atm but i was given a few Napoleon Perdis ones when i went there about a week ago...and that goes on nicely..but just waiting for my MAC 188 brush to arrive, but also have to buy a diff liquid foundation as i dont like the one i have...pity the revlon colourstay isnt a pump bottle!!
Hi Emily, will you be doing a tutorial on the foundation stick? I have the Bobbi Brown one just like you, but I don't really know if I'm using it the best way possible. Hope you can share some tips! Hhanks.
I'm using mineral powder make up but looking at your vids I really want to give the liquid foundations another dry. Thank you very much for this tutorials, they are helping a lot.
There are tutorials using a damp sponage for applying foundation, have you tried that?. I guess it doesn't absorb that much product that way.
Hi! Sally Beauty Supply has a new sponge by Face Secrets that has vitamin E and is not supposed to absorb product. Haven't tried it yet, but it would be good for someone who likes sponges, but not the waste.
I am 33 years old now and have distinct memories of my mother always using a sponge for her foundation application. The days of Merle Norman and full coverage foundation, but it always looked so natural and pretty on her because she used a sponge. Now today, I use the 187 but have found myself starting to alternate with the sponge. It is funny how something so small can really dig up memories as a little girl starting my makeup obsession. Love your videos and where is that husband of yours??
When I started experimenting with colors etc. he had some opinions about lipstick colors that he did and didnt like. Does Tyler have any opinins about looks that he does or doesnt like?
I would say a sponge could have 3 or 4 uses before you wash it or dispose of it. Generally I just use a sponge to blend out foundation around the jawline or hairline without really putting any product on it- in that case I use it for a week and then pitch it :)
Thanks for the informative vids and grt ideas :), to share a tip with you all if u want an even more sheer look wet the spounge and it helps appling the foundation
i use a sponge and i don't get sheer coverage at all! I get full/ complete coverage. I find that if you just smear the sponge on your face, it just makes it more sheer. But if you dab it on or "stipple" it on, it makes it move thicker.
Do you wet your sponge before you put the foundation on it ?

a quick tip is to dampen your sponge a little so the sponge doesn't absorbs as much foundation.
