  • OMG whenever i see amazing artworks like this i have this urge to scribble all over it ... i dont know why??

  • amazing. You just gave the right tool. thank you so much

  • :O but blending stump is my life!!!!!

  • i dont understand where the drawings light is comin from

  • thx, i didn't have a blending stump and ill try this

  • no its of nuce

  • Blending stumps are good for small, precise work. A brush or even chamoise cloth are great for large area blending.

  • exactly what type of pencil do you use? I'm sorry, I can't hear it right what you said. I use atleast 4 different types of pencils to get different gray scales. It would be nice to use just one like you do

  • The 't' in bristle is silent for goodness' sake.

I agree that blending stumps give quite a nasty effect when used for blending, but the very small ones are excellent for softening small details. You just have to know how to use them.

  • that didnt really do anything to blend. image was the exact same at the end of the vid as it was in the beginning

  • I like tortillians, kleenex,q-tips, and chamois

  • NIPPLES!! XD

  • it dosnt even blend!

  • I think i love you in a none-homosexual way.... We had to use stumps in class and it was my first time, so I made the mistake of thinking that I could erase after doing that. It RUINED a great drawing!

  • ur kneede eraser.. is it rough?? mine's are so soft?? why is that??

  • Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow....

    life saver.

    Danke :]

  • I use the brush when drawing hair, and it does create some great effects.

  • This is really interesting. I'll definitely try this!

I've always used tissues to blend. Fingers have so much oil that the drawing always comes out smudgy and disgusting looking. I'm not a huge fan of blending pencils, either. Haha

  • Haha i did that skill at the age 15 and omg i did not realized how good it would have came out.

    We learn everyday ^^

  • Kool tip and drawing, Matthew sounds like he's from Boston ?

  • Thank You, it's so much prettier your way!

  • if you dont push really hard you don't get the shiny effect o.o

  • thank you so much

i always wanted to know how to eliminate the evil silvering effect

it gets too shiny and too distracting to the picture

    i really appreciate it

  • Thanks a lor for the tip, I will use brush!

  • very nice teaching style, and loved the work with the bristle brush, I work in the cast hall with charcoal, but really enjoyed seeing it done with pencil, thank you for sharing

  • i got I am kinda new to drawing and was wondering how to change the lighting in the picture i guess u can say how do i use the shading part how can i learn how to master it please send me feedback thank you...

  • Sick idea.

  • oh this is new to me :3 i like to use my blending/shading stumps but a paint brush i would have never thought. Stumps do turn the paper gray and i thought that was natural and if i needed more black i would add more shading to my drawing.

  • Thanx for the help. I'll try it. :)

  • nice tip thx

  • I TAKE WOLF REQUESTS PLZ SUBSCRIBE IF YOU WANT A REQUEST AND THEN DO NOT UNSUBSCRIBE PLZ PLZ PLZ.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ShortestDunker Art supply store ? They're like 2 a dollar where I live :)

  • Awesome, had no idea you could do that. I just tested it and got some great results :D

  • thank You, nice tip

  • nice tip .... I will try to use it as I usually use tissue and sometime cotton ....

  • please check out my drawings i take requests

  • Cool tip. I always used my finger and a tissue to smooth. I will have to try that brush thing. Thanks!!

  • Is it bad to use youre thumb for blending what do you recomend ill soon post some drawings im in Philippines right now its a paradise here ive grown as an artist see you soon!

  • i do it whit my fingers it works great =D

  • Toilet paper and a brush works fir me (:

  • brushes are great , but stumps have their place. I like stumps like fingers as well. depends on the effect your looking for.

  • yo that really smart thanks check out my drawing at my channel hhhjr1 sub

  • tortillion :top

  • What brand is your brush?

  • oh great. I'm gonna buy me one. Blending with fingers often creates just a random shade.

  • @Adeltraut

Yup, I was shading with a finger and it looked good but it runs some parts and takes a lot of time, I'm getting a brush now

  • @Zoran54321 ah i never felt comfortable with finger-blending, because it destroys the natural texture of the paper.

  • He just want to show the tip, you moron .... He is not giving a drawing tutor but a blending totor.. think with your head... and fill it with some ethical values..

  • tats a brill tip, all d time i smudge my pics after i erase its so anoying

  • i use my finger :T

  • brush works the best, I hate blending stumps, i just threw all mine away except a tiny one i use for tiny parts o f my drawing

  • but how do u get the brush that way? do u colour in the brush or something??

  • that's a great tip!using that brush instead of a blending stump,i'm gonna try that technique,thanx!!

  • Btw, does that only work with that pencil? Just tried it out with several of my own and they don't seem to blend much. Or at all.

  • Thank you so much for this.

  • awesome! i'm going to try this. thanks for posting!

  • nice im going to try that!

  • I don't know how you have such good control over the pencil holding it at the end like that, I've been practicing to but I get terrible lines. My hand always ends up going numb after a bit. Is this something like everyone can learn or only some people?

  • your holding it too hard.

  • Thanks a lot, I have been drawing for years and only use pencil. I have to give that a try. thaks for sharing....

  • i made my own tools for blending they work better

  • which?

  • What tools would those be? I use a blending stump myself and it works for me so far

  • i twist up pieces of nylon tight material, if you twist it really tight it twists back on itself, you do this a few times till you have a firm tip which you then secure with tape or whatever onto the end of a pen, the more times you twist it back on itself the bigger the tip so you can make all different sizes, its kind of hard to explain ill probably make a video sometime showing how i make them.

  • Yeahhh I didn't much dig the blending stumps that I picked up. Good to know this tip, thanks!

  • that's awesome. i'm gonna have to try that. do you think a smaller bristol brush could have the same effect? and should i use a different brush for different shades?

  • OMG I use a brush to blend too lol Im so glad to see someone teaching that!

  • I like what you did with the nipples

  • youre so smart!!!

  • thanks for the different technique :)
