@LetMeLivetoo: You have to read the laws of your state's DENR to find out if you need to register it or not. In IL, the law requires the owner to register it if boat is used with a motor.

@brian93ist I never tried on a jon boat but I would guess that it will work. I used the motor several times with a bigger and heavier inflatable boat.

How is your battery holding up? I also have a walmart everstart deep cycle battery (125 ah group 29) which is brand new. I ask, because I wanted to know if this is a reliable battery before my 30 day return window runs out. Thanks for the help

@sirmasterpimp My battery died. It was cold in my garage last winter and I never charged it over the winter season and that killed the battery.

How fast would you say you are moving at the fastest speed? At the fastest speed, how long will the 115 amp hour battery last? Guess is 4-5 mph and as much as 3 hours. Does that sound about right? I have the Super Caravelle version of this boat. I have rowed it for 2 seasons. Due to nerve damage in one hand it is getting too hard to row for more than 15 minutes, maybe another 15 minutes after 15-30 minutes rest, then I'm pretty much done rowing.

I went in SEARS and I got myself a nice marine deep cycle "die hard"..

I tried it today in the boat for the first time ever.

And it ran great..I am in love with my minn kota40LBS .and it was awesome.

Check the marine batteries at Walmart. The brand is EverStart loaded with 115 Amp Hours.

The Minn Kota motor came with cables to hook to the battery. However, I have to purchase an extra 10 ft cable since I installed the battery at the front end of the boat.
