How did it annoy 210 pax? VB's biggest aircraft is a 737-800 and only has 180 seats max. Less if it set with premium economy. I work at Brisbane International as a dispatcher (note: not for VB). Sadly idiots like these hold up flights all the time. Usually they will come running to the gate, late, with bags of duty fee, puffing 'oh I was stuck in customs'. I'm not stupid you know. I can see the 'duty-free' logo on the side of their bags 200m away while they are still running to the gate.

The airline was requiered to wait for passengers if they're luggage was checked and loaded on the plane. This procedure was put into place after a terrorist come to the airport checked his bag and never boarded the flight. He was ultimately successful in his attack. So, this was a safety procaution and waiting is usually shorter then unloading all the bags looking for their bags and loading th plane again (that can take like 1:30)

This is not true, it's all about on time performance, at -7 before departure, if the guests have not shown up, Virginblue will remove their bags (if they turn up before the bags ahve been found, they will be allowed to board. every minute delayed costs the company $70, so it is important to have theplane pushed back on time. If these people were at my port, and i actually work for Virginblue, they would not have been flying on this flight.
