  • nice to know this kind of thing is possible in maya. I will need to look into rigging and modeling. at the moment character animating's been my forte. This is Great animation wise and the Model. Brilliant stuff! :)

  • just a combination of maya poly modeling and zbrush sculpting.. using z brush i generated a displacement map which i applied to my poly model in maya... i displacement map is off at first but is turned on to full as he morphs

    i've never really tried mudbox.. i sort of get what i need with maya and z brush

  • to morph him his skin joints are scaled in size and i have blendshapes to make the muscles appear

  • @alphaexp i really only had one blendshape to make all the body muscles grow to hulk size, and then scaling the joints of the model rig to make him grow in overall size

    I just need to find the time to do it.. it's a lot of work even for just 10 seconds

    where I come from we say 'no shorts, no shoes, no problem!'

    Anyway, is there a separate displacement map

    for the veins and muscles on top of a displacement map that makes him grow ? how do you change his physic so drastically and still maintain a full control over his animation without weird flinches ?

  • the maya model i began with was pretty high poly to begin with so i good get muscle deformation.. but for veins, pores and muscle striations I used zbrush to make a displacement map, also texture map made in zbrush

    the actual body proportions don't change all that much.. legs and torso get shorter and arms get longer, everything gets wider.. i actually started by animating the run while he's hulk size and luckily I only needed to tweak it a bit for human size..there were no weird flinches

    is the black background only giving the illusion that he's growing twice as large ?

  • i meant proportion-wise..he grows in actual size about 1 and half times his human height..eventually i'd like to put clothes on him and a background in there so you can see his size change

  • i wish i could there's no quick way to show how to do it.. it's maya.. a lot of blendshapes and rigging and rendering stuff

    eventually he'll have hair and clothes that rip off which i'm still working out how to do

  • yeah the hulk out is just a rig i made to stretch and change proportion and scaling the skin joints, and blendshape that adds bulk to the skin geometry and changes his face. i also have a displacement map which i drive on as he gets bigger that adds muscle definition. i render out a skin colour for when he's human and a green for hulk and just transition between them to turn him green
