Could someone tell me the difference between the JKD Branches that are out there? like the original branch of ted wong and the Concepts branch of dan insanto?
Original Jeet Kune Do is really Jeet Kune Do, the art science & philosophy of Bruce Lee. Our academy's goal is to preserve and perpetuate Bruce Lee's martial art. The JKD Concept method has changed through the years, depending on what art Dan Inosanto is researching at the time. The JKD Concept method was originally developed because Dan had promised Bruce Lee not to teach Jeet Kune Do.
Sir, why didn't Guru Dan Inosanto teach Original JKD? Is it because Sijo Bruce Lee wanted JKD's true meaningful philosophy to stand? And then what is Jun Fan Gung Fu?
I really don’t know why Guru Dan Inosanto does not teach original JKD. I do know that there's only one JKD: the art, science and Philosophy of Bruce Lee. As far as wanting Bruce Lee's philosophy to stand, how can that be if you are not willing to teach it.
As far as what is Jun Fan Gung Fu it is the art that Bruce Lee taught before the formation of JKD. If you look at Jeet Kune Do the Art and Philosophy of Bruce Lee by Dan Inosanto, on page 28 1st paragraph, it states "Jun Fan was looked upon as the art that Bruce taught in Oakland and Seattle which is more Wing Chun orientated."
Thank you for your interest. I wish you good luck on your journey.
The idea behind JKD Concepts was to apply JKD ideas to different martial arts and to make them better. Through the years it has been accumulation of different martial arts. As Bruce Lee stated, "JKD is simply to simplify". Our academy obviously teaches original Jeet Kune Do and we are also under the Dan Inosanto line through Chris Kent which teaches the original JKD concept methods.
Awesome video from an incredible martial arts academy! NY Martial Arts Academy is the real deal for learning Jeet Kune Do as Bruce Lee intended and a great environment for men & women of all ages interested in the martial arts.
Everyone is very helpful. The instructors help everyone out and are knowledgeable in the art science and philosophy of Jeet Kune Do. I recommend this school to anyone who is interested in learning the true art of Jeet Kune Do
I've been training here for some time now and I am nothing more than pleased with what I have learned. training in many different arts along the years left me unsatisfied with a lot of unanswered questions, with this school I'm finding my own answers and reaching new martial heights.
I have been traing at this place for a few years now, and I have not found any other place where this art is taught the way it is taught here, they are the best when it comes to JKD, Bruce Lee's real art, not concepts. My only regret is that I did not found them sooner, this place blows everyone else away.
Bruce Lee also wanted us to research and develop our martial art but specified certain principles and theories when researching other arts. We as an academy of JKD follow these ideas and principles at all times.
We teach authentic Jeet Kune Do, not the JKD Concept method but since Bruce Lee was preaching totality we have to look at stand up, ground and weapons. Even though some moves look similar to kali or BBJ they do not belong to any one particular style or system. We understand that you can not roll on the ground in the street the way that a BBJ practitioner does on a mat but certain truths are present.
I see some drills with knife(Kali/Eskrima drills), others at the ground mma and bjj style and these are not the authentic martial baggage that Bruce have left each other.

Dino Orfanos is the only instructor on the east coast certified by both the Ted Wong and Dan Inosanto lines of Jeet Kune Do.

Good work but i have one question for you:
Do you follow JKD concepts or JKD original?
I see some drills with knife(Kali/Eskrima drills), others at the ground mma and bjj style and these are not the authentic martial baggage that Bruce have left each other.
Thanks for the answers that you will give me.
Regard from Italy.
