Women looked better back in the days!!! These days toothpicks get too much fame and a lot of women that I liked from back in the days were not some fake breast implant blown up cinema dolls that we see too often today.
@DetroitLove4U Yep, I fully agree! Women looked so much better when they were veluptous and had more meat on their bones with curves instead of stick figures. Looked a lot more feminine and sexy and NATURAL. Thanks so much for watching this video!
Cool! Thanks for showing. I have The Monkees too. I have an awesome collection of "local" type TV Guides. I agree with the "poster" who commented that the local papers and also the drugstores etc. had way better TV Guides than the junk out now.
That is so cool. I used to save those covers too from the Cleveland Press tv guide. I wish i would have saved them, but i don't think i have any more, maybe a couple.
A very charming little presentation. Thank you. Dawn Wells deserves a "wow", but wasn't Elizabeth Montgomery, God rest her soul, a beautiful, charming woman. How many of us little guys back then thought when you get older you marry someone just Elizabeth Montgomery?
Thank you so much for your comments and kind words. You are certainly right about Elizabeth Montgomery. I definitely was also one of those kids who fantasized about marrying a woman just like that. My dad married a woman just like that (my mom) and hopefully I will marry a woman just like that one day also but I don't think I would get that lucky! LOL Thanks again for watching this video post!
forties: The Griffith/Peterson/Knotts picture was from a Special in 1967..referenced by this Time Article
ANDY GRIFFITH'S UPTOWN-DOWNTOWN SHOW (CBS, 8:30-9:30 p.m.). Tonight it's Don Knotts, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Maggie Peterson with the Bruce Davis Quintet, and a folk-rock group known as the Back Porch Majority."
YouTube has a Andy Griffith Sketch with Hoolihan and Big Chuck that references this special..I'll post more about it in my nest response..
Thanks so much for all that great information. I also watched the Hoolihan and Big Chuck with Andy Griffith you mentioned was on youtube. It was hilarious. Thanks again and please feel free to post at any time.
The picture of Judy Carne, Marlo Thomas & Liz Montgomery was used to promote the fact their shows would be seen back-to-back on ABC's Thursday night schedule, beginning in January '67 [there's a 1:00 network promo of them that's also floating around on youtube].
I can't thank you enough for all the information you provided here. It was fascinating and very educational. I do remember that promo running when I was a kid and can't wait to look it up on youtube. I haven't seen it since I was eight. LOL Thanks again!
Bob Crane and Jim Nabors were indeeed "back-to-back" on CBS' Friday night schedule in '65-'66 [8:30-9:30pm(et)], often sharing the same sponsor, General Foods {"GOMER PYLE" was fully sponsored by them, "HOGAN'S HEROES" on alternate weeks- Philip Morris' "Marlboro" was their "other sponsor"}; Billy and Angela posed for an "Easter '66" picture during "LOST IN SPACE"'s first season, and the only time you could see them in full color, as the show was still in black & white; same with Liz Montgomery.
My pleasure, 'forties'- Steve Allen presided over a summer "COMEDY HOUR" on CBS in 1967; Marlon Brando was being seen locally, in "Mutiny On the Bounty", on one of the local stations' "Million Dollar Movies", I take it; Nina Wayne [Carol's younger sister] was a regular on NBC's "CAMP RUNAMUCK" in 1965-'66; Tim Conway starred in Danny Thomas & Aaron Spelling's briefly produced comedy Western, "RANGO" [ABC, 1967]....
Debbie Watson starred as "KAREN" in the original 1964-'65 line-up that was "90 BRISTOL COURT" on NBC; however, the other two series that also appeared in the "anthology"- "HARRIS AGAINST THE WORLD" with Jack Klugman, and "TOM, DICK & MARY"- were dropped in January 1965. Only "KAREN" finished out the season. In the fall of '65, Debbie reappeared as ABC's "TAMMY". Rowan & Martin co-hosted "THE DEAN MARTIN SUMMER SHOW" in '66, that led to their own "LAUGH-IN" in '68...
This is AWESOME! Love including Hoolihan & Big Chuch, The Ghoul, Franz as well as Dawn Wells. Hey Forties, please contact me about this great collection (I'm in Cleveland)
Thanks for the clip.
