I actually get this error on my Desktop PC when I try to install Win XP through a FLASH Drive, since its CD Drive doesnt work. I get the same error message. So i access BIOS and I dont get enough Settings, just a few. On BIOS screen there is no tabs, so i scroll down and I dont see anything about SATA MODE. Any help?

Yours has the option of ADCI and IDE

I'm using a Toshiba laptop and I'm trying to install Windows xp and my two options under that field are ADCI and Compatibility

I figured it was worth a shot so I just changed mine from ADCI to Compatibility and it worked thanks you!

I did this to my old laptop, very nice to have gotten rid of vista. My bios was different ASUS UX50V-RX05 > F2 > bios v02.59 > Advanced > IDE Configuration > Change "SATA Operation Mode" from "Enhanced" to "Compatible". Save and exit F10. Load from Install Device and enjoy ;)

Si tienen que instalar windows y les sale la pantallita azul con el error Stop: 0x0000007b lo que hay que hacwer es entrar al bios de tu pc y cambiar el modo SATA del disco duro, en lugar de AHCI cambiar a IDE y listo ya no tendras ese error

DUDE! I have been having this problem for so long. I tried to install Windows XP over a Windows 7 Starter install. I kept having this problem and had to install linux on it .

Now I have a dual boot of XP and LinuxMint on my netbook.
