could this show be remade today? in a way I guess it has. It's called Survivor! I mean Survivor seems to have taken a lot from this even though it's a reality styled show
Yes,Richard Donner directed several episodes of the series which was in eight chapters as part of NBC's The Banana Splits Show. Danger Island was in fact the better show out of the rest of the series. This was also Hanna-Barbera's first-ever foray into a live action serial. The show made careers from Ronnie Troup and Jan-Michael Vincent, and also starred former NFL great Rockie Tarkington(formerly of the Tarzan TV series).
Danger Island was the segment that I always looked forward to viewing. I like the four Banana Splits characters and as mentioned earlier, they reminded me of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in for kids! I was so lucky to be a teen during the 60's.
I know that this "series" was directed by Richard Donner of "Superman: The Movie" and the "Lethal Weapon" movies... and it actually does have some of the frenetic energy of the latter mention. The editing style is not dissimilar.
I like the music they played during the danger island show. Like jazz with some good bass

"Okay, here I go again!" Not to be confused with a line in Whitesnake song!
Decided Danger Island was worth another go around so I'm watching the entire 36 episodes.

My earliest adolescent fantasies were of Leslie of Danger Island. She's my original damsel in distress.
SMartinTX 4 years ago 4
Leslie really didn't make much of an impression on me, but I can understand the joy of finding your first damsel in distress.

Does anyone know where this show was filmed? The scenery looks a lot like the U.S. Virgin Islands. Also, the captain sounds like a Frenchie.
