  • what a great make-out song ! takes me wayyyy back,cheers fran

  • A classic song but until now I had never seen it performed in concert. Meat Loaf and Karla put a lot of energy and emotion into this performance. Had to have been draining to perform the same set nearly every night on tour.

Congrats to both of them and the band and crew.

  • I love the "oh shit" look on his face at 7:26!

  • Brutal and sad, but yet awesome.

  • That's the future Mrs. Robby Benson.

  • seen this live.......them two should have stayed together..

  • Karla DeVito stopped me from being gay...not that I wanted to be but how could ya after seeing her? Wadda woman X

  • Well she had him by the balls. Love it, It happens to so many in real life, Those were the days

  • Blue balls sucks

  • he cute :D

  • enjoyed this more today then yesterday lol. Love it

  • Let me sleep on it...

  • Karla was showing side boob in 1978, 25 years before any other performers were doing it!! Thank you Karla!

  • I didn't know Bruce Kulick used to be the gutiar player for Meatloaf.

  • Wow he's fat!

  • @iClubMidgets Yeah, but he sure can sing!

  • I still get chills every time at 5:54

  • @Letiferify Karla intentionally knocks the microphone stand over. What do you think?

  • @bruiseraa

what do i think about what? that's not what i was talking about, and if it was i would've given the correct time to that point

i mean the drop of music and tempo change and everything encompassed within the time i stated

  • @Letiferify I've had that said a few times, by my wife.

  • @sperk31161

    im not following you...

  • @sperk31161 My wife has said, "Stop!", several times.

  • @sperk31161 I have a wife, too. She says something as well.

  • love meatloafs facials

  • Lol was that fight an improv or was that planned?

  • "One of these days!!" Any homage to Jackie Gleason is very well welcomed by me. "If he screamed "POW! Right in the kisser!" I'd have marked out something fierce and this would instantly be a top 10 live performance video. I salute you Meatloaf.

  • I remember watching this on the OGWT, Meat's a fat basta, but he's got style.

  • i remember ellen foley getting the vocal credit from when o would get an album and study the whole thing

    hope i helped

  • this is dope

  • Hate to say it but Meat's voice is rough here. Prefer the earlier concert version where Karla is in white. THAT is the ultimate version of this great song!

  • @TheBurf1 Not Karla's voice

  • As much as I like Meatloaf his voice is shot and probably shouldn't have been performing.

  • I think I like this even better than the studio version. Geez look at their stage presence, does this remind you of X?

  • This is probably the best performance of this song

  • i used to have a big crush on Meatloaf. I was introduced to his music when I about 10 or 11 and i fell in love with this sound.

  • This is ridiculous.

  • The Kulik Brothers??? This is insane !!!! I mean, insane as in NOW I CAN DIE !!!!! AMAZING PERFORMANCE !!!! Individually each and every musician in this video is GOD !!!!!!

  • That was great and hysterical!

  • THAT was intense

  • 7:09 Epic Tambourine!!

  • Legends, Meat Loaf.

  • I think Steinman wrote everything we heard from '79 all the way to 89'

  • Apparently, Jim Steinmen left out the verse where Loaf, in the throes of passion, accidently sits on the gearstick.

    Ouch !!

  • das lied geht ja ma voll ab hihi

ich kann nur empfehlen, da mal die deutsche übersetzung raus zu suchen :P

  • Hahahahahaha!!! at 6:23 he's like: Oh man not this crap again... -_-'

  • Actually, IU love Phil Rizzuto part...

  • happy birthday

  • What a perm.

  • its funny how many of you don't realize its not Karla DeVito singing, she's only lip-synching. The actual performer is Ellen Foley.

There's a history lesson for ya.

  • @Chocolightable Karla and Meat are singing live in this performance. Ellen Foley is the voice on the album and the iconic video where Karla is lip syncing to Ellen's vocals. That video was taped just before the original Bat Out of Hell Tour began. Karla sang live on the tour. She has a huge gorgeous voice. (As does Ellen.) Karla has a Youtube channel.

  • @Chocolightable Ok, musical lesson 101 for you then. Ellen Foley recorded the album with Meatloaf. Then when they said they were going on tour, she didn't want that type of life being out on the road. Karla was brought in, and to promote the album they filmed 4 'promo' videos. Now, as it would cost too much to re-record all of Karla's vocals for the video's, it was decided she would mime to these (which she hated doing). Then the tour began, and Karla sang ALL of her tracks live..Ta Da...

  • Oh Gawd!

    Carla wonderful!

  • Ah, the good old days, when the master, Jim Steinman performed live and the best female singer that Meat Loaf ever had, Karla DeVito was part of the band!

  • @DrStrange10150 Karla DeVito lipsynced to Ellen Foley's vocals in videos and on tour...

  • @MystehMonz Not any concert that I was at. Karla said things that were never recorded, plus her voice is different. Now in the original video, that is probably true, since it used the recording.

  • @MystehMonz I don't think on tour. I'm pretty sure that's her live. Why even get a singer for live performances if she's not going to sing? He'd just get a hotter looking chick.

  • @MystehMonz Google "Karla DeVito". Read her Wikepedia writeup. Do a YouTube search of "Karla DeVito." Karla has a huge gorgeous voice. No need to lip synch. Just before the original BOOH tour began, Meat and Karla lip synched to the album vocals in four promo videos: "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," " Bat out of Hell", "You Took the Words Right out of My Mouth", and "Two out of Three Ain't Bad." Karla sang live on the tour.

  • @DrStrange10150 ... That's not Steinman.

  • Timeless. ! Reminds of girls night out in Sandbach with Gina good m8 :-)

  • Timeless ! Gets Ur heart pumping! Reminds me of girls night out with m8 Gina in Sandbach happy days

  • when music didnt need props

  • Great song he's a legend! but he was out of key in this performance :/

  • @RoyKidman3 No duh, he totally fried his voice! haha

  • Meat loaf as its best

  • was that a flash of tit around 8:30?? ;-) lol Awesome live still today!!! peace

  • @DirtyHarry69a

    Haha, I believe it is!

  • @DirtyHarry69a Yes it is, but a lass she is so far out of our league

  • ripped off the whole idea from the tubes song "dont touch me there".

  • No way, The song was written by Jim Steinman for a theatrical that went nowhere. Steinman realized that Marvin Lee Aday, better known as "Meat Loaf", was just the kind of theatrical performer that could put his brand of music to life. Todd Rundgren produced the album. This is not even comparable to something like the Tubes song...

  • This song is one of the greatest...Karla, you're so sexy!

  • This song is one of the greatest...Karla, you're so sexy!

  • karla is one of those little known entertainers who just go out and make it look easy. At their peak it was hard to beat the energy. Even if you didn't like radio rock.

  • anybody else notice the lip syncin at the end by meat loaf!? when he is yelling at karla it doesnt match up at all!!!

  • karla, i love your voice, and meat explosive duo, ¡for ever! the great in the half of fame rock history

  • A Question .The logo in the backgtound for OGWT, looks like one from Bowie's records...width of a circle..have seen that image before.any info ??

  • Comment removed

  • did i see patti russo in there ?????

  • @themanfromwem Patti was 13, a month from being 14, when this was recorded. April 1978.

  • @bruiseraa excellent, lovely voices from them both. they both sang with passion, thank you, good song, TMFW

  • @bruiseraa She was actually 23...23...23, not a nymph, good comment though.........question foy you, who still plays piano/keyboards with MEAT....a bit bald nowadays, cheers, TMFW

  • @themanfromwem Patti was born May 20, 1964. Ten years later May 20, 1974, she was ten. Four years later May 20, 1978, she was 14. Google "Neverland Express" and read the Wikipedia writeup for listing of players in various incarnations of Meat's backup band. Who's playing piano here? Jim Steinman or Paul Jacobs? I don't know.

  • This is like a theatrical play, why are there no artists like this besides Meat Loaf? The late 70s were awesome!

  • @MordaciousFilms I know right, I mean im a theatre geek who plays bass, id only do music like this lol

  • karla you are so hot i would love to e-mail with you

  • karla is so hot i think i love her

  • @jpal920 an will you love her for the rest of your life? :D

  • Love the song and video. Thanx. Rarely see singing like that nowadays!!!!

  • 4:30 sexy

  • One of my earliest memories is of watching this with my dad - he had it on vhs. I know it's supposed to be an emotional song, but at the time I just thought it was hilarious - " "Well, i'm takin' the baby!""Well I gotcha there baby, cos we ain't no baby you fool!" used to crack me up every time.

  • Great!!!!

  • We have all been there, done that. Can you hang in is the question? The same shit happens with any relationship, only way to avoid it is to keep falling in and out of love, however you will have to keep changing partners. That gets old, fast.

  • Karla neglected to mention one other fellow, the long haired male backup vocalist with the mustache, Mr. Rory "Turn Around, Bright Eyes" Dodd!

  • @secondeagle If there's a comment by Karla where she distributes kudos or laurels to anyone, such that you can write that she neglected someone, reply to that comment.

  • @bruiseraa Pardon me, Professor English. She FORGOT to mention a member of the band. Happy now?

  • 1978, remember cutting through MU (Memorial Union) at ASU and had heard this song repeatedly on popular radio. For first time, I got to see the exchange live on a VCR recorded version. Karla Divito and Meatloaf in this clip, delivered a masterpiece. I showed up late for class. No worries, statute of limitations has expired, otherwise have to sue for impacting my collegiate career.........

  • I might be 30 yrs. late ,but thank you for my teen-years

  • THIS is my song an me an my hubby 2 b aving played at our weddding

  • 3 people need to sleep on it...

  • you have to love this .and KarlaDeVito was here she was great

  • This has always been my favorite song of Meatloaf. The vocals on Karla at 05:54 is my favorite part!

  • Holy freakin' crap, man. You got a comment by Karla DeVito on your post.

  • Se parece a Edith Piaf esta chica....

  • Karla, this is steve we did the production for many early shows and I had my 6 year old son on tour with us ' Marty '. He remember you were very nice to him, thanks . Hey were is Rory it was a blast for what seemed to be a year !

  • Meatloaf as the "Undertaker".

  • Brilliant, totally brilliant. What music should be, these and then (circa.1979) days.

Though I thought he was going to twat her with that microphone stand there, for a moment,

    09:56

  • A mini-opera. Meatloaf at their best.

  • You realize that if he had just said "yes", the song wouldn't have the epic ending.

  • Me and my girlfriend love to dance to this song. Yeah........we don't really like GAGA lol rock and roll is always better.

  • how good do you have to be to be that obese/fat/overweight and still rock the world like Meatloaf did? Love your music! Live forever will You! please, with a cherry on top!

  • It was kinda gay how Meat Loaf lost his voice right after he recorded one of the best songs in disco/rock to date. I wish he never lost his voice.

  • it's funny cuz Axl Rose looks like this now.

  • Pure...Fucking...Awesomeness!!

  • A match made in heaven Meatloaf and Jim Steinman, No better songs and music on the planet!! What happened to the good ole days of pure Rock N Roll?

  • epic song, epic band, epic acting, generally epic and specifically epic. however, i have to admit that a bloke of that size making out with a BOMB like that is a little bit creepy. but hey, if you can't get laid with epically hot chicks who would otherwise be way out of your league, what the hell is the point in being a rock legend of this caliber.

  • Pretty obvious they both had theatre backgrounds. Awesome performance by both

  • such a great song

And their Acting is just awesome. :)

  • such a great song :D

  • he doesnt half struggle here but god lve him for trying..........meatloaf ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember my two brothers performing this on my mom's birthday. My mom never laughed as loud as on that birthday. XDD

  • MY GOD KARLA is so perfect!! She could have EASILY done the real vocals on this song! She is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds just like the album version!
