I have lived in Taos my whole life and have never really looked at the bridge in this way. My Husband is from Oakland, Ca. and as been trying to get his family out here to visit! Maybe this one will inspire them to come down!! Thanks for posting!!!
What a brave guy, that road is scary as heck, especially on the side of the river where they don't have boulders acting as a guard rail. I can't believe New Mexico and its crazy cliff road with no guard rails.
My dad and I almost got rear-ended on the bridge. We slowed down a bit to take pictures of the gorge, and a minvan came flying over the hill, blaring its horn at us. He swerved around us just in time.
It's still beautiful, though. Ever walk out over the bridge and watch your spit fall to the river? :P
We visit probably at least once a year. I live in Clovis, on the eastern side of the state, so I don't get out there very often. But that area is one of my favorite spots in New Mexico. :-)
Sorry you don't like driving over the bridge. It is quite high. I've done it many times and don't mind it, thank goodness. I'm going to visit some friends in T.P. tomorrow and am going to drive over. It is quite safe, actually.
its cool to stand on te middle and as cars pass by the bridge shakes...
