  • Would this work for 120 words AND definitions as well? Plus about 30 root words and definitions to those root words? (hopes it does *studies*) =_=""

  • @DXAnimeRockzXD Has it worked?

  • now I'm gonna remember paper salamander for the rest of my life :(

  • Comment removed

  • Basically, you can memorise new info more easily if you make links and connections with things you already know.

  • I just don't understand this method. My memory has been poor since I had an accident 2 years ago and I'm desperately trying to get it back. This doesn't work. I'm not retarded or anything, I can learn, I can remember, I just can't do it as well as I used to. I'd love a tecnique to improve my memory, I just can't find one that works. Please reply if you think you've found something that might help. Thank you

  • @babtash85 Oh the technique works, but they don't tell you the amount of "bloody work" is to find different places, and get familiar with them, you have to touch the places, see them clearly, walk around them. Then you have to make your own stories making sure you have a starting point and an end to your story.

So its only amazing after you build a huge number of places you do remember, that is it! some hard work before you can use the trick.

  • @babtash85

    Try (USE YOUR PERFECT MEMORY)

by Tony Buzan. A great little book that starts off with the basics of memory techniques.

I am sure this will help you. I read on Amazon this book was given to a patient by a neurologist. The patient has given it a really good review on Amazon saying how much it has helped him. And I for one really enjoyed this book. Helped me out tremendously. Good luck.

  • Does anyone else notice that he doesn't remember the words egg and window after his long day???????? And he says he gets them all correct...Some memory technique and Champion lol.

  • but all he's doing is memorizing words in order here.

how exactly can i apply this to memorizing 93 ion formulas, my latin vocal words, or what some historical figures did? hopefully that doesn't come off sounding skeptical, because i totally believe this could work for things like that. but i don't really know how..can anyone help me here?

  • @xZebrasGoRawrx The words should be no problem. just use the method above.

For the historical figure, you may have to do something like: pick a street you know well. Then imagine that person dancing at the beginning of the street. Then as you walk along that street in your mind, you assoicate events or actions with things on that street.

Formulas in the same way. One character or number for each item on a street etc.

  • best video on youtube

  • why do i have these videos in history if i never watched them

  • @1111165798 Maybe some else watched it on your account.

  • and how would i use this on something like chem facts? ie: memorizing the definition of a mixture, etc..

  • but how long does this memory last? im trying to memorize stuff of exams at the end of the year? i should i use the same symbols or picture for everything?

  • @radnev007 Congratulations on your success!! I have a question, how do I use this technique to memorise 'facts'.. Like Newton's Laws or Pythagorus' theorem? Please respond if you could, I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere :(

  • When i first watched this i was in year 1 university. NOW i graduated from Cambridge as a psychologist and one of the best too! I have a super memory and can memorize over 100 words in about 3 minutes. So keep practicing guys and you will do this too!! This technique is amazing, it got me through the toughest school in the world!!

  • This video changed my life, literally.

  • tumato hahahahah

  • Thanks for this amazing tip on remembering things. It's very useful especially if you have a large set of words that you need to remember. At our company Brainscape, we help people learn and remember things using online flashcards, so check us and our videos out when you can. Thanks again for the study tips!

  • Where was this before i pulled my all-nighter last night :(

  • This is an amazing clip. Thanks for the upload.

Also, the domino brain at 5:00 is pretty awesome itself.

  • great clip thanks for sharing!

  • Cool might try it

  • "national anthem" by radiohead is used in this vid, perhaps it should be "everything in its right place"! :-)

  • by this time you could jot it all down and read it back five times

  • GOOD LUCK IN COLLEGE W/ this technique bro. LOL this would result in F or D

  • @boblee666

No actually it wouldn't. I'm studying architectural ingeniering at a good university and I use this all the time.

  • @somethingonmyhip i doubt that since you don't even know how to spell it

  • @Epistinimically

    not in england retard..

  • Up his own important arse Winston, yeah I'd smoke him alright, down to the butt your only a fucken wanker.Don't dare say hello to him in Regents park as the snub will leave you crestfallen, I was only going to tell him that the suit was being ruined by the spray from the slimy street. Bike riders come in two sizes , grotesque and goegeous, guess witch 'e is?

  • Excellently educational. I developed the story technique myself playing Brain Age, becoming able to easily memorize 30 words. I always figured it was easier because a story sort of fits the words into a one algorithm, rather than holding each word as an empirical piece of data. Then I was recently thinking about how memories are all formed by association, and likely need to be traced backward through neural connections, but forming multiple connections never occurred to me. Fascinating!

  • This is fine for short term memory but you need to avoid this sort of thing if you need long-term memory of something. I bet Prof Winston wouldn't remember these words today (he might because it's been recorded broadcast and he could have had a staged repetition). Use this for memorising up to two weeks, and staged repetition or goldlist for things like languages which you want to learn for life.

  • This completely just blew mind...

  • is it possible to use a made up memory to help learn new things such as a dream or a daydream like a imagination. does that help?

  • It worked!!! I tried it on my spelling test and got 100%!!!

  • if this technique also worked for long-term memory (2+ weeks after creating the story/locations) ... then i wanna try this technique! :)

  • rap music in a nutshell

  • I know it simplfy's things to make it easier for you to remember and I can see it be useful when iot comes time to take exams or anything else that is imprtant for to remember

  • what if u live in small flat?

  • I loved this video. I showed my son and he loved it to. It really does help you see learning in a new way.

  • thats a good memory technique that harry loraine teaches too

  • great, but how can i apply this to Cicero's Pro Caelio??

    WTF

  • @MrKayetanBucker

hahaha I was linked to this video too when studying Cicero's Pro Caelio, but don't know either how I'm supposed to learn Pro Caelio by heart using the location method :P

  • Cool video! 5/5

  • This is great for subjects which require rote learning, but not for subjects like maths and science which require logic.

  • i disagree this can be applied to anything that can be taught and science and math are not the exception.

  • Amazing stuff.. Im liking it :) Im practising these kind of memory techniques.. Two books i fully Recommend: Domenic O' Brien 'Learn to Remember' and 'Your memory' by Kenneth L Higbee.. :)

  • its ok to learn easy word used in say to day life... what about learning difficult things about which we cant relate so easily like course of radial nerve in our body

  • methods like this do work if its time your worried about then

think about all the time wasted trying to remember it

with this it creates more cues and also stays in your long term alot stronger

  • I have used this technique successfully to learn vocabulary in my native Spanish. It works at least ten times faster than rote memorization and it's a lot more fun.

  • if one are bad on remembering storrys, this dont wourk so well. i cant remember iven the storrys told over and over wen i was a kid...

  • @naturelifeform But you can remember your house easily, I'm sure. So there it's a lot easier like that.

  • My brother who is a Psychologist (from Peru) told me about that technique more than 10 years ago. Those are the basics but we can always accomodate this technique to our needs. My brother used to "create a story". For example you want to remember ELEPHANT-APPLE-BRIDGE. Then you imagine the story unfold in your mind like this: I was walking in the park and saw an ELEPHANT eating an APPLE going towards a BRIDGE... Whatever works for you. Great videos!

  • oh yeah it was called mega memory, i bought the tapes and thought it was lame, it really kind of is though no one has time for this, i mean to apply this method to taking a school test

  • some guy called kievn trueman made millions off this

  • i remembered all the words too. damn!!! thats great.

  • Wow so i'll be able to remember things better now. Thanks :D

  • hand me down my walking cane,

    hand me down my hat,

hurry now and dont be late,

cuz we aint got time to chat

  • I saw this vid 2 yrs ago, and criticly wondered if this even worked. Over the coarse of the 2 yrs. ive thought about it and USED this technique to memorize a few things at the spur of the moment. LOL it works!

Altho, how i can train myself to do it in mass quanities, i have yet to learn.

  • Marvelous, I love this method.. it can make you seem more in control of your brain and memory process..

  • The song that plays at 1:14 is "The National Anthem" by Radiohead.

  • awesome and seems so hard to do

  • i seem to be the only person who this doesnt work for.

  • Cheers! That´s really helpful!

  • i so wanna try this method

    :D

  • the brain is unbelievable.

  • Deadly!!

  • that was amazing

  • One could use similar information to show that, for instance, the bible could be more fact than fiction. If memorizing facts is easier in story form, then the majority of the bible could be true. Just a thought.

  • the bible is fact!

  • a fact that nothing in it is true.

  • really?just you wait and see...............bible prophecy coming to past in a town near you!

  • Oh please, people have been saying that for centuries. Looks like we are still here. Plus, god can't be real, because christanity contradicts god at every level. For example, god gives people free will, yet he chooses our "road for us". Yet, if he is all loving and forgiving, why does he send people to hell? doesn't add up does it?

  • "he chooses our "road for us"people might say that but i have'nt seen that quote in the bible!if you don't believe in God i can't force you to.but he real, and you'll find that out, hopefully before its too late.

  • See how you try to put fear on me for not believing in God? I believe in God, I don't, however, believe in organized religion. It is all a cult to keep the little guys at bay. Think of all the religion wars, many innocent people died for the sake of their religion, while the leaders sat in their castles or whatever, eating like pigs and collecting tax from everyone. Religion should be abolished from the face of this planet.

  • do you know what the bible says about women?

That they should be quiet an go make me a samich!

  • pretty sure he was being sarcastic. noones that retarded / (removing exceptions. MJ etc.

  • Equivicae: Thank you very much for sharing these highly interesting videos.

I've got a question for you. Can these techniques be used when learning stuff at school? That is, can one get better grades by using these techniques? Thanks.

  • I know your not talking to me, but yes definitely!

Im just about to finish my GCSE'S and as my science tests are all modules and we have em every half term or so there isnt alot i can remember from the first term or so.

But one lesson in biology i used this technique, kinda, to remember all the different sections of the eye and its relays. Still know em all, only thing i know. Also if its a particuarly odd strange word brake it down phonetically.

And read derren browns tricks of the mind :)

  • Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely try and get a hold of "Tricks of the Mind"! Good luck for your studies!

  • truth is.... its only useful for a small ammount of things, basically, stuff you need to purely memmorise without regards to any meaning associated with the words like names of chemical compounds in the Krebs Cycle or maybe even the periodic table and the math's formulae sheet.

It doesn't help you think, nor does it give you understanding. Relax though, understanding is derived from a VERY LARGE ammount of information memmorised, so it should help you one way or another, though not directly.

  • Aha, I think I understand what you mean. It helps you remember stuff like formulae, etc. I think that would be good enough for me since I can't remember anything lol Just kidding... I'm not that bad.

By the way, I'm sure you know about the effectiveness of rehearsing. Rehearsing (repeating) helps pass info in our minds from our short-term memory to our long-term memory.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • This technique works very well - one very useful addition is to set up the location in your mind in their actual physical sequence, and have the sequences numbered, as if you were walking from one location to the next in their actual order. That way, you can also easily recall the sequence of the words too - for example, if asked what was was the 16th word, you could call it out immediately, or you could recite the sequence backwards, or call out every-other word, etc.

  • this really does work. i used this technique before i saw this video, but it just explains everything. i do this for my spanish vocab quizes all the time, i can memorize 70 words in 50 minutes before a test easy. SAT vocab books also use this technique

  • any curious Tren students here? :-)

  • I HAVE POTENTIAL!!

  • Crazy, this actually makes sense!

  • teach mnemonics at my site. This video really just shows you.

  • Not as good as Rainman.

    I'm kidding...jesus

  • He is a doctor and must be smart already.

  • I am just joking. Thanks for uploading. Very helpful.

  • omg I always had horrible memory but I tried this in studying for my exams and it worked! finally my anime knowledge is used for something lol

  • @jafarr13 some of the smartest people ive known used this technique. word association, linking, etc....

  • @jafarr13 lmao tell me how did u manage to do that with anime???

  • @EvanFreak Most anime characters are completely different--their personality or looks, if you mix your knowledge of you favorite characters with something you need to learn then you might be able to make a link, thus triggering your memory in an exam.

  • amazing. I was actually able to do it

  • Can someone send me materials for daily memory training?

  • Not as good as the stuff at: mindreadingexposed_dot-com_

im a dealer and yes it seems u do know how blackjack is played. however i must disagree with you beating the casinos for millions. card counting does work but it is now impossible with automatic shufflers which will soon be in every casino so ur gonna have to do it quick. as for shuffle tracking u must be havin a laugh. you might be able to track a few cards but its not gonna gain you any advantage. Best way to beat a casino is dont

  • "Best way to beat a casino is dont " i like that, thats pretty funny

  • The man who is teaching him the tecnique is a smart man, notice how he is short tempered.

LOL I'm also short tempered like him.

  • I use mnemonnics to memorize arabic words...

For Example mazraah it means just farm...

    maz- mass

    ra - God of Egypt

    ah - He screamed

And in this way u get mazraah what means just farm! Our mind is unlimited!

Go For It! There ARE NO LIMITS!

  • how does this work effectively though? If I need to answer a question in trivia I cant recite a damn thing like that.

  • It is like when you read a book, you can recall certain details without reciting the whole story.

  • I want to things recite it accurately. I want know how memorize my personal translation of the bible.

  • Mnemosyne . com

  • read the book "the art of memory" Giordano Bruno and the history of Mnemotechnics

  • awesome.

  • toe-mah-toe

    you say toe-mah-toe

    and i say toe-may-toe

  • im australian, i say tummaaahdo.

  • lmao XD

  • I wonder, if it would also work with other languages

  • "Achievements" too. No edit function here! Whoops.

  • "Yes, but actors have a much longer time to learn the lines. /fail"

Often actors have to learn several pages of dialogue *over night* for tv soaps. I'm not taking away Bell's achivements, just pointing out actors do similar memory feats but aren't considered memory champions!

  • Actors can do what any memory champion can do - but no-one ever says they're geniuses. Makes you wonder. Actors on stage have to learn lines for 2 hour plays!

  • Yes, but actors have a much longer time to learn the lines. /fail

  • egg window? he didnt get all 30

  • THANK YOU!

  • I do something similar myself, but only to remember one or two specific tasks I need to do. This is amazing.

  • I am having a very hard time using this to remember my CCNA stuff...

  • cool, the radiohead helped

  • If you realy want to see someone with a genius memory research Kim Peek, he makes this guy look mediocre. Not that this guy's memory techniques are not brilliant.

  • Kim Peek is autist not an avrage person! Kim Peek is not realy able to live with out special care. His abilities derive from the fact that he can not filter the information his eyes bring to his brain! He cant drive a car nor a bike. He cant realy do a lot of stuff this guy can!

  • The reason I said that is because everyone is saying "wow this guy is a memory genius" when there is a man out there who is the personification of memory. I just wanted to enlighten people of that fact. I never said that he was normal.

  • Well The reason I said that is becasue wow this man is in fact a memory genius!

  • Andi Bell is smarter than kim peek because kim peek didn't make himself that way. Andi made himself into a genius, and didn't take the easy way and be born that way.

not that he he could help it or anything...

  • I would like for you to research more into the subject of the Psychology of Human Memory processes because i found lots of hits with your illogical text comment...For once, Kim Peek is officially labelled as mentally challenge, he's a "prodigious savant."

  • freaking genious!

  • Seriously, have you guys never used this technique before? It's very effective.

  • LOL!

  • master

  • I'm going to use this in school. Fuck yeah

    This is madness.

  • rofl fuck yeah dude, i feel the same way :P

  • thats mad, but rmemebering the picture to a certain card... is crazy. CRAZY !!!!! i tell ya

  • > to me how can i use this technique in memmorizing

    > questions and answers in high school.

    >

Start by drawing/imagining a picture of the subject matter that you are trying to memorise (e.g., all elements of the periodic table are foods in your pantry/cupboard), then make up some ridiculous way of remembering their tabular order. You see where I'm going here. Also, make each element a type of food, or something. Then make molecules fruit baskets or entire meals, etc.

  • Hey if you don't mind can you elaborate on it.

  • I'm not an expert on how to use mnemonics, or chemistry, for that matter. To elaborate more, you'd have to get into the subject matter more.

But maybe you'd learn molecules as collections of fruits (atoms), where each fruit (atom) has a certain number of seeds (electrons). Then memorise molecules as fruit baskets, etc. This will just help you learn to memorise the details.

  • dude I dont think memorizing an atom in cheistry is a big deal. LOL!

  • fantastic!

  • thanks alot for this technique.but if someone can explain to me how can i use this technique in memmorizing questions and answers in high school.

  • It's a beautiful thing - progress, learining the truth about how things and people work or don't work for that matter.

  • amazing! :)

  • That's cool, I'll tr that thechnic too!

  • well fuck that SO I AM STUPID BECAUSE I CANT USE MY BRAIN! All I do is that and it works?!

  • how well does this location associated technique work with material students memorize in college like biochemical pathways? And it seems only temporary and must be replaced each time someone memorizes a new set of words.

  • Amazing! I can't wait to test this technique!

  • GOD BLESS YA!

  • great
