@geminitool The filters are indeed color coded. However, this is a NIOSH thing (think OSHA). The pink or lavender color that is used indicates that this filter is rated P100. This is the current term for what used to be called HEPA. This is the most effective filter available for a half mask respirator. Each brand (including 3M0 has their version of this item. All are equally effective, and are tested to make sure. We recommend this filter for lead dust and asbestos.
We don't have a '3M 51' filter. We do mention 2 parts for the mask that contain those or are similar to those numbers. The 3M 5P71 is a pre-filter used primarily for spray painting and pesticide or herbicide spraying. This filter is secured on top of the 3M 6001 organic vapor cartridge by using a 3M 501 retainer. This plastic retainer is a clear plastic cap that holds the pre-filter in place. Hopefully that explains it? Thank you, Rick
The asbestos dust is really only harmful to your lungs. Covering your eyes with goggles works fine, but some do prefer to have the full face mask filtering all the air. pksafety(dot)com
Hi, I make a work of asbestos removal. this mask 3m 6000 is right for the job? or should I buy a larger one is the hat covers the entire face? thanks ...
For spray painting you can use the same mask, but need to use different cartridge/filter combo. Use a pair of the 3M 6001 organic vapor cartridge in combination with the 3M 5P71 prefilter. These prefilters are held in place by 3M 501 retainers. Please visit our pksafety site to see these.
The instructions that come with it are for more than one product, so it can be confusing. You need to remove the two rubber-like circles inside or you won't be able to breathe through the filters, but there is a third one in the center and there is no mention of it. Are we supposed to remove that too?
i have the 3M 6800 full face respirator, and i love it so much, it has little lung resistance, and amasing visibility, it's comfortable and the whole 9 yards here, i'm a huge fan of it, i use it in combat simulations and whatnot, i've tryed the M40, and a couple others, but this is by far the best full face respirator i've evor worn, i fully recomend it. the only issue is that it REALLY muffles your voice, but then again, you arent probubly gunna have to shout orders to your fireteam ; D haha.
The P100/HEPA filters on this mask filter out particles like strainer. Very-very small particles to be sure. A gas mask will also have layers of activated charcoal to absorb and neutralize many other compounds.
The pancake things are the 3M 2091 filters. They trap dust particles as you breathe in, drawing the air through them. They are rated as P100 / HEPA in effectiveness, and so are able to be used for lead and asbestos dust. Without the filters, the air would come into the mask unfiltered.
are 3m fiters color coded ? Is pink for asbestos ?

Can you make a video of 3M 6000 Full Facepiece Respirator and the 3M 7000 respirator? I am considering buying them for my contracting company.
