This was absolutely amazing. It's hilarious for me too. I thought I was bi for a long time, but after volunteering with several friends for a while at a EQCA call center I eventually found out I was straight. I came out to my friends and everything. Good times were had by all thankfully, but no one offered to give me a taco!

If the parents are also straight (i.e., “wrong”), it makes a big difference: In real life, gay kids afraid of coming out to their parents are usually coming out to straight parents. And it’s different to experience homophobia from someone in the same boat as you (gay) than from a privileged (straight) person.

I've encouraged my "straight" allies to come out as "straight" in an effort to not only support our community, but also to draw attention to the fact that this is not something that should have attention drawn to it.
