Fought to the death? Firpo looks like he threw the fight. I mean my 12 year old son could take more of a punch than that... It looked more like a wrestling match. And besides that, Firpo looked out of shape, to say the least. And...when a fighter kind of thows his hands over his head when he falls down? That's the classic Sonny Liston dive move. Dempsey was a good fighter, no one is arguing that. But this fight? And Firpo in general? Ugh.

@PaulDePace Boxing was just different back then. If Dempsey was born 30 years ago and trained using modern techniques etc., I'm sure he would be better than any heavyweight around today. Same thing if you took a heavyweight from today and had him box like they did in the '20s. It's all boxing, sure, but you're still comparing apples to oranges.
