Sorry to say this but Resident Evils souls was destroyed when they scrapped this one. This WAS incredible looking and retained the elements of what makes a true RE but the real 4 and 5? Good 3rd person shooters but NOT RE. I was so dissapointed with the real 4 and 5 as RE games.
It clearly looks like the consoles were not capable to play this game at all... I'm pretty sure this gameplay is not from a gamecube, at least not a normal one. If you take a close look at Leon, his leather jacket specular and material, the overall lighting (the flashlight, the candles) and all the real time simulated objects, clothes, curtains, etc. If you compare all those graphics and technical stuff to the released RE4, there are light years of difference.

if you followed the story you'd know that Leon is infected with Progenitor in this version of the game. That's why he's having hallucinations and stuff. Fits in WAY better than Plagas ever did.
In my opinion, this is what resident evil 4 should have been. I love the final version of resident evil 4 and all, but it didnt really keep with the "horror" feeling of the previous games, and this is basicly what it would have been if it kept to the feeling of the first game.
I love Resident Evil 4 with a passion, but I didn't find it scary. This version looks awesome and I think if Capcom went down this path with Resident Evil 6 it might redeem the series.

I've decided where this fits into Resident Evil Canon: It's a nightmare Leon is having, after he dozed off in the car ride at the start of RE4. He wakes up and soon after begins the opening monologue that starts RE4.

Can't really see why they would take the 'sci-fi' survival horror game: with the virus that causes zombies and end up in a Project Zero gameplay by way of Silent hill alternate/same rooms . I'm all for trying new things but they could have made a new series with different characters rather than use the RE series, this just doesn't fit into the RE series as is.
@wi2er In the plot for the RE 3.5, Leon was suppose to be infected with the progenitor virus, so the hallucination is probably a effect of the virus being in his system.
@AntLomeli I don't follow the RE from three version and much less knew that version. Therefore i speculated that were hallucinations made by drugs or since pathogen.
Actually, the gameplay reminds me of Fatal Frame meets Clock Tower 3... doesn't really remind me of Silent Hill that much, except for the mannequin part and the way the scenery is at spots. It's kind of got something of it's own in there too.... I wish they would have made this.... I like the Resident Evil 4 we have, but it would have been soooo cool to have something like this too.....

the Ganados and Majini are simple as hell to avoid, especially considering how long it takes for them to actually attack you. And zombies are way scarier than any Ganado or Majini ever were. All they have are glowing eyes while zombies have deteriorating skin that's falling off them.

You people must be way too young to remember the ORIGINAL RE that came out in 1995... the game that defined a generation and the entire genre of (modern) survival horror games. This looks like how the games were originally and meant to be played. This is not a Silent Hill in ANY way. Anyone who calls themselves a RE fan needs to do some homework if you think this game is "nothing like the series" or a "carbon copy of other survival horror".

That's right folks, it's SURVIVAL HORROR. The original concept of the games was to mirror George Romero's concept of a zombie apocalypse...unfortunately, long abandoned by Crapcom.

...what are you talking about? 3.5 looks WAY more like survival horror than 4 or 5 ever have. Added to the usual conserve your ammo that seems to be emphasized you now have hallucinations confusing you over what enemies are and aren't real which would cause you to chance losing even more ammo.
And if the original concept was to mirror a zombie apocalypse why are there Hunters, Cerberuses, and a Tyrant in THE VERY FIRST GAME and not just zombies?

They honestly should've gone for this, even if it looks too much like Silent Hill, the game would've still been amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Resident Evil 4 that we got at the end, but this would've been awesome, if not better.

Can't really see why they would take the 'sci-fi' survival horror game: with the virus that causes zombies and end up in a Project Zero gameplay by way of Silent hill alternate/same rooms . I'm all for trying new things but they could have made a new series with different characters rather than use the RE series, this just doesn't fit into the RE series as is.

it looks more like hallucination that leon has, when the lights change color. RE with supernatural terror is mischaracterized. RE is sci-fi horror.
blue light = hallucination. It's mix of Reality and imagination of Leon -- perhaps some drug of Umbrella.

@wi2er In the plot for the RE 3.5, Leon was suppose to be infected with the progenitor virus, so the hallucination is probably a effect of the virus being in his system.

Actually, the gameplay reminds me of Fatal Frame meets Clock Tower 3... doesn't really remind me of Silent Hill that much, except for the mannequin part and the way the scenery is at spots. It's kind of got something of it's own in there too.... I wish they would have made this.... I like the Resident Evil 4 we have, but it would have been soooo cool to have something like this too.....

This game would of been amazing but I still think they made the right choice with going with the other resident evil 4. For the creators at least. Taking this whole new step for resident evil 4 got the franchise new fans and they still got to keep the old ones. I love all the games in the series. Especially the fifth one because I of the mere fact that I got to play my favourite franchise with my best friends. But if it was single player it wouldnt be close to being my favourite. They should have kept this style and just changed the enemies. RE4 was good but just wasn't the same and was way too easy. RE5 just plain sucked. I would have preferred traditional RE style gameplay with ghosts than the new style with zombies.
