@Khan12078 the boundary line shows whether the shot was a 4 or a six. so if the ball makes first contact with the ground, after crossing the boundary line, then it's a six. but if it made contact with the ground before the boundary line, it's a four.
but i don't know the specifics to the ruling, because what if a spectator jumps off their seat and throws the ball back to a fielder? technically the call hasn't made contact with the ground. but i'm guessing there's a rule to prevent that.
Adam Voges did this in a T/20 and he actually caught it. Well this was much harder to even stop the 6 but the Voges catch was nothing short of brilliant.
To be honest I haven't read the rules but I think it would go against the spirit of the game to award this a six. yes, he is airborne, but he jumps from OUTSIDE the field of play. Imagine a fielder climbing over the fence, jumping amongst the crowd and swatting the ball volleyball style back into the field of play. It's just not cricket.
Its not a six. He made contact with the ball when he was inside the boundary. When he put the ball back into play he was airborn. Based on the law - not a six. They clarified the laws (LAW 19.4)
How is this not a six? Even though he is in the air when he taps the ball back in, he jumped in the air from outside the boundary. This means it doesn't matter if he was in the air or not if he touches the ball its six.
@HighLordBlaze Its A Six And I Predict That You Are One Of Those Gay Sri 0Lankans.He Clearly Put His Foot Outside The Boudary Rope Then Hit It Back In I Just Found Another Person To Go Catch A Bus To Hoboville And Wanker Your Grandma
@cricket4life45 he put his foot down, and then took em off the ground before he put it back in. funny how you're all tryna be experts at the game when the authorities decided it wasnt a six. and stop starting every damn word with a capital. and... you "predict"? i pity your english skills, mate, i really do...
oh and fyi, using 'gay' in that sentence makes you a homophobic as well x)

to all the arguers..the score is taken from the last place you stood. if thats in bounds then its not a six.. if you stepped out of bounds..and grounded..then u must re enter the in bounds area and then ground, to be considered back in play. thats why they jump in the air and throw the ball back in bounds- so the last place was in bounds.
obviously this needs some common sense applied to it.. just like when running between the wickets, if the batsman bat is grounded inside the crease.. he cannot get run out, even if he jumps in the air. This should be exactly the same as the boundary rope.
@madhawa101 u can't just get out of the stadium n push it in( jumping) n catching it inside boundary n call it a catch DUMB!! Just use sense n think if u have brain..!
@paraisabin you Indians have small brains....... so you stop a boundary but you go over the rope ... come back to the ground and trough it back..... in theory so that also be a 4 don't it ....... PLZ next time think before you hit the keys in keyboard.....you moron...ROFL! :P
@sd123456789100 .... obviously this needs some common sense applied to it.. just like when running between the wickets, if the batsmans bat is grounded inside the crease.. he cannot get run out, even if he jumps in the air. This should be exactly the same as the boundary rope.
ian bishop isnt happy it seems. westindies were losing and they needed sixes but mathews and srilanka didnt allow them to hit sixes. Hear his commentary carefully. He seems dull.

it should in essence be a six, since its out of the boundary line
Khan12078 5 days ago
@Khan12078 but it hasn't made contact with the ground. doesn't that matter.
leredsock 4 days ago
@leredsock then why is their a boundary line, it signifies anything crossing that line is 4 or 6.

To be able to do this takes skill.. and promotes cricket. You think I'd be watching fucking cricket videos if it wasn't for cool shit like this?

@Moppy1988
Basically if you jump in the air and touch the ball youu have to jump from inside the boundry.

couldn't you just keep jumping and tapping it up into the air so that you can then make an easy catch once you tap it back into the field?
robbo4pm 1 month ago
Logically if he's already over the boundary rope and then jumping, it should be a six shouldn't it?

no coz he is in air when he push the ball in.
