I heard this on the radio when i was a little kid. asking my mom not to change the dial. I was little, but big enough to hear something my ear was happy with. Upstart lover.

In answer to the gorillasalads around... there will always be armchair/ Youtube comments and Politics. If a Man believes something is wrong with a decision that involves HIS LIFE ... IT IS HIS RIGHT to be a Sheep or a LION and stand up for what "HE" believes rather than be a soldier for a War that "HE" did not believe in.It takes a second and a bullet to end a life, in the end Vietnam cost America in lives lost over there and also from PTSD suicide deaths caused from Iraq today. So THINK !
screw "muhammad ali" sure he was a funny guy and a great boxer, but when the time came for him for a real raw fight, he became a muslim and douched out. Communist states were not some made up enemy. Their evil way of live still permeates eastern europe and the orient. Even Elvis made an effort to join the military. That aside, this song is one of my favorites and it still blows my mind each time.
@gorillasalads The U.S.'s involvement in Vietnam was one of the most embarrassing, tragic mistakes in its history. 58,000 soldiers returned home in caskets for a fight that even LBJ and McNamara privately admitted they had no chance of winning.
"No Vietcong ever called me a nigger"
Well said Ali. How could any African-American be expected to well up with patriotic fervor for a country that was so shamefully cruel to them for so long?
Obviously u were not in that particular war. Front stories I have heard you are far from wrong about your comment about " No Vietcong ever called me a nigger" so please this song has nothing to do with your pathetic life,,,,,,
I AM ON THE PLANE TO SERVE THE LORD AND RETURN HIS CHILDREN TO HIM. I WANT YOU TO CONTACT ME. I CAN BAPTIZE IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER. SON, AND HOLY GHOST. I AM THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST. YOUR MIND WILL BE DESTROYED. BE AT PEACE WITH IT.
@joankendricklyons you are not the second coming of Christ!!! why would you say such blasphemy, why? the bible states that He lives in us, yes, but you are not God incarnate, that is just not true, careful with your language
@carkorot I firmly believe that joankendricklyons is God Incarnate and its disgusting of you to attack my faith in such a hateful malicious manner, how dare you!??
@inurbasekillinurdood was it disgusting and hateful when Jesus came into the temple with a whip and beat everyone who was in there out saying " My Father's house is not a den of thieves!" it is people like you who deface the bible and Jesus because of your lack of understanding Hosea 4:6 " My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." why are you so blind, Matthew 15:14 " ... And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." repent and change your disgusting beliefs
I RETURNED TO THE LORD. MY MIND WAS DESTROYED. THAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. IT IS A GOOD THING. REMEMBER THAT. THIS SONG IS ABOUT THAT. IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU EVENTUALLY. AND IT'S NOT BAD. IT'S GOOD. NO RACING THOUGHTS. PEACE. PEACEFUL MIND. REMEMBER THAT. I LOVE YOU ALL.
@joankendricklyons i thought this song was about having sex with a girl, then blowing her mind? i don't even know why i listen to it if i'm Christian, it's just it's so catchy, too catchy, actually it's pretty awesome

Memories of songs like this allowed me to be sensitive to woman because songs back then represented love and respect for the black woman. Thank you 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and some of the 90's for giving us such great music to live and love on. I will represent you to the fullest until the day I rest.
oh wow me growing up as a kid in Calif. with 2 older sisters and a brother all they did was drag me with them to the skating rink lol afros swinging everywhere omg i miss them daysss
I love this music. It reminds me of the dances at the YMCA in the Malden projects. For a bunch of white Irish guys we certainly loved this music back then, and I still listen to it all the time.
Brother its not the color of the rainbow you are on the outside, its what color - emotion you have on the inside. Anyone who loves this music is a soul brother, yea! When will we get this kind of music back in our lives. I hope I live to see it.
no and this doesnt remind us real philly soul groovers of Jackie Brown this is ghetto blaxplotation music not a film soundtrack thumbs up if you agree!!!!

@sierria64 Sorry to hear about your lost, don't mean to make you feel anymore sensitive than you already are, but they probably did it on purpose I don't trust certain ppl. Bless you.
Was nice how in the 70's that I never really thought of it as 'black' or 'white' music. Just great sounds like this that even white folk like me loved and still do.
I'm not old i'm only 15, but i really loved ''Jackie Brown''. I watched ''Kill Bill'' vol 1 and 2 and then i forced myself into watching the rest of Quentin Tarantino's films.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
ah, the memories of listening to great soul music on my little radio, while sitting in the backyard sun, drinking cola and shmearing myself with lotion...
a lot of people who post on youtube wouldnt have been born if their parents hadnt been listening to this song and all the others like it! lets hear it for "back in the day"!
I was in the second grade when this song hit the airways. Yeah, I go back that far. That's what listening to the radio more than watching the television will do for ya.
I also was upset & left ,This Was in the tape player for you,I'm so sorry,It's I loved you so much I'm so sorry you always told me when I leave take you with me.You also told me You kept the house going waiting for me to come back & maybe you should leave & let me keep the house going.then the police came to the house that night to tell me you were dead.I LOST MY MIND.Baby I'm so sorry next time when we meet in heaven I'll Love you much better
My mother got me into all 60s,70's and 80's.. Pop,rock, motown etc... I played this track 1 day at home on a soundtrack and it was probly the only motown group she never heard off and she was blown away by it... Sadly she passed away from cancer 3 years ago miss her loads!!!!
@safefromharm82 sorry for your loss... my mother also got me into the r&b music of those years as well. she's still alive, but she would spend sundays ironing and it would always be on the radio. a few years ago she got ahold of my ipod and asked how i got into this type of music (while singing along) and i told her it was from the sunday ironing. what you said brought back alot of memories.
Amazing song :)

Younger generation misses out on all the excitement of being in love and waiting for the right time. Songs like these made it even more exciting.

I was in the second grade when this song hit the airways. Yeah, I go back that far. That's what listening to the radio more than watching the television will do for ya.

My mother got me into all 60s,70's and 80's.. Pop,rock, motown etc... I played this track 1 day at home on a soundtrack and it was probly the only motown group she never heard off and she was blown away by it... Sadly she passed away from cancer 3 years ago miss her loads!!!!
safefromharm82 5 months ago 2
@safefromharm82 sorry for your loss... my mother also got me into the r&b music of those years as well. she's still alive, but she would spend sundays ironing and it would always be on the radio. a few years ago she got ahold of my ipod and asked how i got into this type of music (while singing along) and i told her it was from the sunday ironing. what you said brought back alot of memories.
