This happened to me to it was a bitch to fix. I also had to replace the front brake master cylender. King pin and bushings and new sprockets and a good oil change and a new air filter but now its running like a beauty its a 1986 honda 200sx and its never had any maintmence but my parents bought it new in 1986
For the ring i drill two small holes through the ends of the ring and put a couple decent finishing nails then with vise grips grab both nails and close the ring to the proper size slip the ring on and then remove the finishing nails. Simple and easy. It's similar to using C-clip or O-ring pliers.
@CoreyDeMerchant its very hard to do, but you dont even need to put it back in i never put them back in anymore because the axle nuts hold it together you dont need the ring, all the ring does it rip off your brake pads when you want to get it apart
So if that ring took you 26 min to put on, dose it have to be off for the drum to slid on? Because, I tryed to change the brake pads on my bike, but could not get the drum back on with new pads? Its like the ring is stoping it from sliding back on? Help plz lol

grizz700lover 10 months ago
@grizz700lover you just take out the cotter pin and then just use a socket or impact wrench on the nut
