I miss these days...You had to EARN your way to the best music in the games. This, Mega Man 2, and 3...You name an NES game and the last few levels had the, "Yea, you know what you had to do to get here" vibe.
@I3lindGuardian Uh, for all games to pick when mentioning "earn" the endings, you mention Megaman 2 and 3? Those games are easy, especially 3.
If you're talking NES difficulty, you're talking about games like (but not limited to, there are many more) Ninja Gaiden III, Castlevania III, Zelda II, Journey To Silius, 1943 and (heaven forbid) Ghosts & Goblins and Battletoads.
@DrJohnCockwalrus and I quote "You name an NES game and the last few levels had the, "Yea, you know what you had to do to get here" vibe." and you named some nes games...haha :P
@psylentknight when i compare the 8-bit version to the arcade, this technodrome theme is def better on the NES than the arcade. But the final boss theme against Shredder the arcade version takes the cake and then some. Listen to that, it is nasty.
Somehow i have remembered this music perfectly 15years in my head. Now that i hear it again brings me shivers :) Man this game has been under some hard playing as kid. Love this game and specially this song is one of the best of all soundtracks on NES.
@alienboya You know what? It's really not striking me as all that great... especially some of the arpeggiated parts that become quite dissonant against the main theme. It's not absolutely horrible, but for final level music, this seems a little weak, a little anticlimactic, even sluggish... it sounds like it needs more oomph, more push, more intensity, more freaking SOMETHING.
@charger69c Let's see. I made it to Shredder, but died because of his shrink rays. In Sunsoft's Batman for the nes, I got to only stage 4. So I say that Batman is harder.
actually it does, but I don't have very many chances to use ninja turtles acronyms like "shut the shell up". I wonder what game is harder, batman or this one?
I like both the original and this version. This is a more chilled out, groovier version, whereas the arcade one has an urgent ass-kick feel to it. To each his own.
oh my god i think this is the last stage. this stage and music was awsome and i always got butterfly cause i knew i would be facing shedder and the big brain dude.
I love old NES music :). You can really tell this comes from the same sound libraries as Contra and Castlevania... used to be able to tell companies apart just from the sound of their games.
@TheKiyardo Planning to fully remix (every track) of NES TMNT2 late this year. Been on my to-do list for ages but I think I'll finally have time for it now. :)
If you like that song, you'll love the version in Rockman 1~6 Rock Arrange Ver. 20th Anniversary. It's track #4, "Dr.Wily 1 (Rockman2) mix". In fact, the whole CD is just great, highly recommendable :)
It's been 15 years since the last time I played this game, and I still remember every single note from this song! NES music is awesome, and Konami is responsible for many of those nice memories. Games like this one, the Castlevania saga for NES and many others show the importance of the music in the entire gaming experience. Thanks for allowing us to bring that back Hebreke!!!
Thanks for your comment!!! Honestly, I was afraid of not being understood when I wrote that, because english isn't my native language (probably you've already realized that, hehe), but through your words I can see that my message was clear enough (or barely clear at least, hehe). It's nice to meet other people with the same memories from our childhood :D
When I finally unlocked the TMNT arcade game on the new TMNT PS2 game. I was disappointed since the original arcade songs weren't included. I remembered this song while I fought in the Technodrome. Better than the two songs in the unlocked game :P
Awsome game! Does it remind you people of Zangiaff's street fighter USSR theme? It does me!
Also...who was that ...THING that you had to beat before you get to Krang and Shredder? And that Shogun warrior with all those leaping tigers and zombie hunthback things from the shogun stage? CREEP-Y! Looked like the Predator!!
This was my favorite music of the game. I would sometimes just beat all of the foot's in the opening of the stage and just leave it going with the sound while I did my homework.
I acually still have a working nintendo and this game. I play it sometimes. I've never beaten it without using the move where you hit A and B at the same time and kill footies in one hit
I no longer have it myself, but a good friend of mine still have this game and we play it once every couple of months. There's no way I could beat it without doing that A and B attack.
Beating this game at nine years old was the pinnacle of my young gaming career.
