i have never had lessons in how to do it but, when im in the water i ask surfers and body borders and i learn some tips...

this summer i went in the water and when i was in the i got this wave and i was riging on the top, when the wave started to curve so i put pushed the front of the bord under water and i was in the wave but then a wave from the front came and i shot like 5 foot in the air i broke my bord and got tangled with the cord of the bord.... can i add your msn to give me advice?

i surf on a bodyboard and a surfboard and there r harder things about each one. except on a bodyboard u can take off deeper, ride shallower and boost higher. u can ride tons of waves that even pros on surfboards cant. some of the heaviest waves in the world were first ridden by bodyboarders and then claimed by surfers years later. ya it is harder to stand up on the face of a wave instead of lie down, but if you just ride the shoulder, like you probably do, it doesn't matter what u ride right?

i disagree here, doing legitimate airs (revos, forwards, inverts, ars', etc.) in overhead, 6-10 ft, is not easy. in everyday, average, poopy, blown out waves, id rather swim or fish. i don't bother if its not producing a rideable wave. but in pumping surf, there are more possibilities on a bb. most ppl who claim they "surf" don't know how to ride the barrel anyway, regardless of the conditions.

. I grew up watching Barba at the Wedge and have witnessed Andre Botha and him in 3x OH surf in Ventura going loony from the water. Don't do the sport a disjustice and categorize yourself as being equal to the them or the guys who are legit spongers. They don't bother with anything that's not 6 foot and spitting, I was just saying surfing is way harder in average waves like the ones we have 355 days out of the year here in S.D. i agree with most of what you said, however i'd say that there are PLENTY of days of the year where, if accessing the power of the ocean is what your looking for, bodyboarding is a better vehicle. u mentioned sd, the reefs that i usually surf are crowded with dudes on sticks that do nothing but barrel dodge. at least 100 days a year there r head high, spitting barrels, you just need to know when to go look. id rather get spit out of a 5-6 foot tube than ride a 8 foot rolling face standing up.

Also some greedy kneeboarders out at shoes and blacks when its firing :) Lets unite and trash on kneeboarders instead haha. Nah but for me the focus is tuberiding as well.. Sounds like you bodyboard for the right reasons. Respect. But if you want some real power try central cal this winter. A lot heavier surf.

thats what i like to hear! i went to cal poly san luis obispo the last two years and fell in love with the central coast. you know ill be going up there this fall/winter. heavier, less crowded and more consistent. LJ is where ill be at for the next couple months though, then santa cruz. i have yet to explore up north
