How do you control the brakes? I need to figure out how to implement the ones on mine. I was thinking of using a switch channel on my R/C transmitter. How could I make that activate a relay though??
@allanonmage My design needed no brakes. When the stick returned to center it would stop and the motors would offer resistance to movement. The Sidewinder controller did all this.
@jimenezlee It looks like they are still on there. Did you leave them as a dust cover? My setup stops as well, but I'd like to figure out a way to engage the remote from the R/C transmitter. Later on with an Arduino or the like I suspect it will be easy. DO you know how to take a servo output and control a relay? I have 2 switches on my R/C transmitter, so I suspect that it's capable of doing this, I just don't know how. Hobbyking has little to no documentation :-/
Why not start with a unit that has a rectifier regulator on it. Or add one. You could have cut the weight and cost of the Battery's in1/2 or better. And never had to charge the Deep cycles. Us a small Motorcycle battery there what 20 bucks at Walmart. Vers proly 300 bucks for the deep cycles.
The deep cycles were also from Walmart at about $75 a piece. I did not put a generator on it as I was anxious to get it running. It would probably be a good idea to add one.
can you control the travel speed..could a variable speed control be installed..I need to cut a steep hill about 70 degree..I need spike wheel to hang on the hill and a 2 cycle engine from a lawnboy.

Yes, pretty much the front part of the frame is the original chassis.
