  • the trailer park will expand with this distro,

    you helped them:(

  • boooooooooorrinngggg

    Come on men.

  • lol "trailer park of the internet"

  • does it feel good being such a nerd?

  • Sweet video man, Thanks for the in depth overview of gOS. I picked gOS "Gadgets" over "Space" because I need a productivity solution. My social network is plenty accesible on the iPhone.

For the idiots that think that this is an OS for noobs, i believe that you are quite mistaken. gOS is for people that want to get things done. I am very experienced with computers but use this on my 8yr old laptop just because it is faster.

  • Sabayon is much better then that :p

  • when will it be able to be downloaded?

  • does it have the command prompt?

  • yeah

  • how do i get this for powerbook g4

  • requirements = 1ghz x86 256mb ram

  • lol, i just found out, this is spinoff from a guy called Anirudn Acharya who made a theme fr linux called mac4lin which looks exactly like leopard (bt why on earth?!), he then got involved with some other coders for making gOS. No wonder gOS grabs inspiration from leopard. I mean c'mon, make something creative, like a very diff UI fr starters.

  • Linux had this concept before the Mac did. I remeber how weird it was to me to see the dock on the Mac having only previously seen it on Linux.

  • i tried the live cd fr "space" gOS and it really has a "wow" bleeding edge to it. This is without any doubt the most beautiful linux distro i've ever seen. I think with advent of this OS, linux is going to take a whole new direction altogether in terms of the "experience" and all the other things linux offer. linux ftw.

  • how do i get this for powerbook g4

  • very specifically targeted to the "very average" daily user. This can take the corp world like a storm thru proper channels. good luck gOS.

  • This would be good if it wasnt so focused around Myspace. That could have gOS space, then gOS light or somthing...

  • They have one called gOs Rocket which doesn't have all the Web 2.0 garbage

  • Yes, but space looks so much cooler! lol. I figuard out that u can just delete the myspace stuff and make it a normal OS.

  • Right, lets get some thing straight. GNU was founded by Richard Stallman, after those dirty UNIX developers wouldn't hand over the code to the community. Secondly, the Linux OS is nothing of the kind, there is not one single "Linux OS" because all of them (to the best of my knowledge) heavily rely on GNU (Linux is just the kernel).

  • So instead of treating GNU as some sort of public donation (I am sick of this mentality), remember that GNU was created by the community for the community. Take away GNU from your GNU/Linux operating system, and you are left with pretty much nothing but a kernel and perhaps a GUI that doesn't work.

Sorry for trolling or flaming, but I feel sometimes people treat GNU as anything less than a legitimate demand for "freedom".

  • Hooray for the alternate OS!!!

We are on the threshold of thin client computing where it really doesn't matter what OS you are running. Microsoft is scared. That's why they are so desperate to get XP on the eeePC, OLPC, Everex Cloudbook, etc. This OS isn't for everyone BUT it CAN take a huge bite out of the Microsoft Monopoly.

  • Holy shit, I want this OS.

  • looks awesome time for myspace to port all their stuff to linux

  • This looks like the perfect distro for the living room. So when my mates, familly etc want to quickly go online they can't help but get blown away by the bling

  • I wonder where they got all these wonderfull idea's for the user interface.. Mac OS X Leopard anyone..?

  • Oh, please be quiet. Mac OS X is a UNIX system, And mac leopard S.U.C.K.S ass. I have a Mac and i didnt like the OS what so ever, I love linux-open source OS's. Mac is not the only UNIX system that can use docks.Plus linux has always been customizable. Mac is not.

  • So? By using a UNIX base everything can be copied? Mac OS X is NOT open-source, neither is its design for as far as I know. This user interface with the dock and spaces is just a 1:1 copy of the Leopard dock.

Don't get me wrong: I agree with you that any system can use a dock/spaces/stacks etc. It's just that the way they implemented it here is extremely uncreative and sad. Open source allows for "everyone" to come up with "the best solution".. Yet they copy something else.

  • Well, no. See UNIX was made free to the public in 70's(well the GNU was) then apple and a few other comp. propertied their UNIX os's; which it was intended free in a since of what Open-source really is. Now the dock was just a new version of the panel-now dock. Yes, mac did make a nice looking dock( i give them that), but that dose not stop us, Open-source dev. to copy something that works great. See you pay for something like a dock,Opensource community don't. oh, and dock is just like a panel

  • I'm glad it looks like MAC OS. Good for them! I don't think Apple with come crashing down because gos has a MAC like interface.

  • ya i think they updated this today (^_^)

  • lmao!

    Trailer Park of the Internet...

but you and your gf are both on it. lol!

  • Could you PLEASE post that wallpaper somewhere? It looks awesome!
