how was the jem a gimick?it was designed to improve the shortcommings of the gibson/strat type guitars the jems that were made from great wood sounded very good and they looked fresh and exciting when fender and gibson were dull and looked out of date!these days i like most guitars if there well made i own fenders a gibson and ibanez stuff and my strat isnt better than my rg750 at all...

@IbanezVyperGuitarGuy no acctually i play a stratocaster. You may have noticed them they have been top of the market since the 50's. Reason is that they dont make you look like a flamboyant tool and they arent a skitzofrenic guitar. If you want double poll pickups for a fat sound you get a gibson, you want a thin and toney sound you get a fender. You wanna look like you can from an 80's hair band be my guest but expect flak from people like me.

People play these guitars because they perform, sound, and play better than gibsons, fenders etc.

You obviously have never even picked up any guitar in your entire life go out and find some freinds instead of prowling round the internet looking at something you would love to own but cant afford because you have no life skills or confidence so therefore remaining unemployed and mooching off the taxpayer.

i have played many squires, gibons and even more ibanez and i see nothing special about them... i like my les paul gibon better than anything i've picked up... but if u like them u like them its ur guitar

so did fender and gibson and yet people are still milking that old bitch. if anything ibanez guitars deserve to last longer due to their versitility. you put an ibanez jem up against a telecaster or a strat and youll see that the jem can do so much more. thats why we call rg's and jem's super strats. because they have the general shape of a strat but they are superfied. like kate moss and susan boyle. there is no comparison

@MICKEYISLOWD No its because i dont feel comfortable playing a pink,black flower guitar which a fairy would gag at. It was built on a gimick. And im not saying there a bad guitar apart from the look and the fact that most people prefer the ladder. its because there bad compare to the gibsons and fenders etc. Why do u think steve vai only plays the white jem. He went through the phase.
