question in the official vid they play this with no capo in E and they use the same partial chords F#m and G#m as the alman bros do in Melissa , in the grand ol opry vid capo is at the 3rd fret and plays the G which is in the key of b flat and in another vid she capo,s at the 2nd fret and plays G and that puts it in the key of A now your capo at 4th fret and playing an F which is also in A wouldn't the chord progression be the same as far as the 1, 2,m 3,m 5th i have trouble with chord progres-
this is what i dont get righ there this is what someone messaged me what to do. (g chord ddddu d chord ddddu a chord ddddu bm chord ddddu. In between the last two strums for each chord (du) there is a slight pause. ) i dont get the part about the in between teh last to strums for each chord there is a sligh pause...thats what i dotn get... and verry sorry if i am being a nuisance bout this lol..I have been desprate to learn this song. Ty for all the help may god bless you :)
Okay i need help with the transitioning to the different chords when it gets to the strumming pattern i mean i know thers ddddu, dddudd, ddududu, but i after finishing the strumming patterns for each of those chords when u strumm em how do u do the transition to the next or what do you do while u transition to the next...Please help me thank you so much the help is very much apreciated.
@mustaine566 Not sure if I understand the question totally, but check out my lesson on strumming. Search "yourguitarsage strumming" and watch that video. Master the strumming exercises in my ebook 1. Between those two things you should be in good shape!
Thank you for this video. I ve been watching your videos for over a year now and they are really useful. Love the finger picking part! It adds alot to the experience.
Thank you. I love all of your videos and would always hit "next" once I heard that F was one of the chords. Thanks to this video, I am no longer scared of F. I can actually play it now. So thank you.
Why do you capo on the 4th fret when you can easily and clearly watch the actual band play it capo-ed on the 3rd fret playing G - D - Am - Bm4? real simple - no F barre chord etc.
I love this tutorial and alot of your other acoustic guitar tutorial and i'd like to request a guitar tutorial by taylor swift-the outside. Thank you.

hey mabey you can help me out ! i am singing this song for the school talent show with my friend and i have a acoustic and a electric guitar but i dont know ANY cords or anything! and i really want to play acoustic while singing! can you make a video for people who no like nothing about guitar lol thanks!
The easiest chord shapes would probably be C-G-D-Em. Place your capo on the 9th fret if you want to play along with the recording. You could just as easy play it without the capo and adjust your melody line to fit the new key. Using the above chord shapes your 1st melody kine note would be the 3rd string open. For example: (IF =3rd st. open) (I = 2nd st. open) (DIE=3rd st. open) (YOUNG= 4th st. 2nd fret) You should squarely be on the C chord when you sing "YOUNG"
I love these lessons all of them are really good. Although im really frusturated that there are no lessons with the guitar note picking guitar in the background... :( but still like the lesson.
i play guitar and i figured this song out a while ago by myself and just found this video and i can play these chords and i just wanted to say you can play the F chord a different way. i can play it both ways but i find the other way WAY easier. just to let people know. =)
I bought the ebook several months ago. Combined with the lessons here on youtube it's the best money I have ever spent to further my guitar playing skills. I am now comfortable saying I can "play" guitar, no longer stress that I am "learning" to play. Thanks man!!!
Let's clear up some confusion about the capo. It's a tool, like a wrench or screwdriver. Anyone who says that you are lesser of a player for using one needs to drive nails with their skull instead of a hammer out of sheer ego. I know tons of incredible guitar players that can play circles around the ego-maniacs that tout such nonsense. The capo is not evil or good. It's a tool and is helpful NOT ONLY for changing keys, but also optimizing fingering which allows for chord embellishment, etc. ;)
On the whole capo vs bar chords. I don't have a capo, so i am stuck barring any song that is not in the key of c (the other option is tuning your guitar for a specific song, but that's a bigger pain). The thing with barring is that you spend so much time training your left hand to make funny uncomfortable shapes, you ignore your right hand that is suppose to be keeping rhythm. So even when you get all the bar chords down, you still can't play the song. So if you have a capo use it!
@hellwroughtangel I dont believe so. i mean in my opinion, you would get BETTER rather than lose skills with barre chords. Once you learn the basic patterns of most barre chords, you attain a seemingly-infinite library of chords and know how to do em. Of course, you shouldnt neglect your left hand, but that should be learned in the beginning... with easier chords like G Am Em etc. so then after u learn the barres u'll be playin like mraz nd the other great guitarists :D
Guitar sage, I need to invest in a Capo. What type of Capo should I get? (for an acoustic nylon/steel string). By the way, your youtube lessons are the best.
@MoeHawk37 I reccomend the main Kyser capos. the one that come in like 5 colors and are rather thin. its professional usage, costs $20 (but even some low quality ones cost that much). Kysers are long lasting. had mine since like 3 months after i started playing... doesnt seem like its going to wear until after i die.
3:50 You say you play whole notes, but you're counting 1,2, strum, 1,2, strum. So actually you're playing split bars there instead of diamonds. Right?
But keep the videos coming, sage! I really enjoy them!
I WANNA LEARN THAT SONG
