Not that I can remember...but can a brain be trusted? I did ads for a car dealership in San Francisco that were quite amusing in the early 80s. The "I'm in distress, baby" was from Federated. Thanks for the enthusiasm and your incredible taste.
Didn't you also do some car insurance ads in the DFW area in the late 80s, I seem to recall a caveman sequence, where Shadoe invented the wheel, thus the need for insurance.. and a knight in shining armor vignette where the woman said "I'm in distress baby." so dry it was like 18 day old bread. I loved all your characters, especially the boardroom scene and who would believe that in those days we paid nearly $5 for a blank VHS tape!!! lol I wish you'd make an Internet comeback, and bank big!
Damn I'm old!!! Damn how time flies!!! Shadoe, I remember seeing you in all of these commercials back when they were brand new!!! Damn you were GREAT!!!
Loved these commercials in our podunk little Texas town. My brothers and I would drive our parents crazy with the Fred laugh and my sisters were in love with Shadoe. The guy is a genius!!!
What a great campaign. Only a guy like Shadoe Stevens could pull this off. It really put Federated on the map, and was a part of the 80's in Southern California. Federated was a great chain, used to go to the one on Olympic Bl. in West L.A. all the time.
so these are how he became famous eh? lucky break for sure. There was a crew like this in every city, especially Toronto, lots of wacky commercials for HI Fi ect. Never saw these because I was in Canada, but they are pretty fun. Good job boys. I wonder if Shadoe took some of his old buddies along to Hollywood.
Thanks for posting Shadoe, I am good friends with Dave Nichols and and love the stuff you guys made together, I really enjoyed Shadoevision, too bad it was about 20 years ahead of it's time... my favorite line..."If you can eat this, anything's possible!"
Thanks for the note. I do remember Valerie but have no idea where she is. I've spoken to Keith, who is in Las Vegas, but haven't spoken to her since I left in 1987.
I love the ads. What a hoot. Man that was a wild time back then.
I worked at Federated for over ten years. Do you remember Valerie Duggar, Keith Powells assitant and worked on ad stuff? She was my sweetie a lifetime ago and wondered if you knew where she went.
Thank you for posting these! The "Psycho" spoof alone is priceless. I miss the Federated Group - for these commercials, at least. You guys were genius!
We used to look forward to the new weekly Federated commercials and were never disappointed. We even made a drinking game out of it! My favorite will always be the rap video. Thanks for all the fun Shadoe!
this guy was my feel better medicine when i was a teen if i was pissed or sad id see a federated commercial and Piss my pants totally clever and fresh humor even in todays world
Mr. Stevens, it is Awesome to see these againI remember that archery one the most. That one in particular cracked me up and make me feel sick and the same time.
Totally looked forward to these commercials as a kid. Great 80's nostalgia. How big was your production crew? And how often did you shoot these? Thanks.
It was like a Monty Python group...a crew of six who did everything and shot five or six new commercials a week for six years...more than 1,100 different spots...no commercial ever ran more than ten days. Thanks for the note.
Mr. Stevens, you are one of my idols, and have the most admiration for everything you have done; working in LA radio, and hanging with the boss jocks. The Federated commercials were totally bitchin' . I bought my Atari there. If you ever want a friend for life, let me know, I would love to hear your stories about working at KHJ.
where's the mariachi one? I'm looking and can't find it. Please upload it. Gracias.

SoCal, in the 80's, was the greatest place and time to grow up. These are more than commercials, they are a part of my childhood..
