  • hey, what do you have to do to change the suspension, i have a 93 arcticcat 580z and i wanna put tall suspenson on it

  • that is a sick sled how fast does it go?

  • @powderboyski with the 503 i had it geared for 63mph and it would do it in a short distance, now with the 540 in it i have it geared for 74mph and should hit that easily once i have the carb set up.

  • 540 Yamaha engines are so reliable! 6000 miles on mine with no rebuilds and I've romped the shit out it, still runs pretty good!

  • @XLVrider1 Lh ya, I have seen them with 27,000 miles!

  • @lshobie I know they last forever, Id post a video of my XLV doing donuts, on this comment but It wont let me.

  • @lshobie Yea never mind, I just realised we linked our videos. Haha

  • new r motion suspension would be pretty cool in this sled! and a sweet sled you have there!

  • phase 3.... profit.

  • @ms20040303 I could never make a profit on it. I want to keep it, will be fun when my son is about 80 pounds and can drive it - he'll have some good times.

  • @lshobie haha I know, it's just a joke from south park ;)

  • @ms20040303 Dang - missed that one. Thanks for watching!

  • liberty 600 ho from an iqr

  • @mrkchlan I like it!

  • awesome idea man good shit

  • @greenthumb858 Thanks!

  • how long did it take to do all of this

  • @TheChowchow1995 this has lasted about 3-4 years, LOL, damn long! I have some changes to make next summer and I am done - I swear! Maybe an 800 liquid?

  • @lshobie hmmmmm sounds good!..... how much horsepower does the 800 your considering have

and how much horsepower does the current 540 have, because you could do a XCR 440 special from polaris and have the speed of a 600 but the weight of a 440 :D, but idk how it would work for your sled with that long of a track

  • @TheChowchow1995 no idea, i would want the most hp in the smallest package - maybe turbo it too. what does the 440 put out? the rotax 800 puts out 140-160 i think??? current hp should be around 65

  • @lshobie the 440 last i heard was pushing 110

and in a 480 pound XCR from 1993 it will hit 110 MPH

  • @TheChowchow1995 interesting, i'll look into it more next year, my buddy had a 440 liquid and i loved it- it really hauled ass.

  • @lshobie sweeet, have to make sure the head says XCR Special or else it wont do anything good at all :/

and they do haul ass, i have one (was an oval track racer) and just redid quite a bit to it spending $420 ish on it this season which is alot considering im only 15 and dont have a job other than with my dad during the summer, cant wait for winter :)

  • I love that frame jig..did you make that all yourself or did you have a shop do all the welding and fab?

  • how much did it cost in the end to make?

  • Yea, that 540 is a beast! Have a '81 SRV 540 with aftermarket tune dual carbs with hi performance pipe. Pushing close to 70hp. It came with aftermarket tune when I got it. It have over 9,000 miles and still going strong. How do you like that 540 motor? VERY COOL Custom built sled. I love Modified. But won't last long if you super modified the engine.

  • @kenneykole I love the 540! I'm putting one in my tundra as well, how can you not like an engine that can get 27,000kms before rebuild - and fan cooled! What size are your carbs? I'll probably put duals on next summer when I have time.

  • @lshobie Um, I don't know what size are they. I will have to take them to snowmobile guy and will tell me what it is. Dual carbs uses more gas than single. I tried mine and seems only 70 miles range per 6 gallons tank. Which kinda BAD lol. But worth for fun!

I know! Yammi engines are really reliable. Actually, my friend have nice '77 exciter 440 fan cooled and it have 24,320 miles (about 38,000kms) Would you believe that? And it still going strong!

  • What were you using for a secondary clutch with the yamaha primary clutch? It doesn't look like an elan clutch..

  • @clayto6 the secondary is from a touring. the elan clutch would fail.

  • put a 617 rotax in it lol that would be beast. i got one here in alberta about anhour from mee for 900 bucks brand new

  • @TheRexx101 no way - no liquids for me:)

  • @ishobie what size track is the skidoo rev suspension?

  • @TheRexx101 It was a 136 suspension, I put the timbersled 151 in it now, the 136 rev susp is going in my 89 tundra with 540 yamaha engine, reverse, and 156 track/and rail extenders for the rev 136 susp.

  • so like 1 more month lol :)

  • @TheRexx101 ok maybe november!

  • @lshobie cool.

  • when is the new video of phase 3 going to be out?

  • @TheRexx101 I'm just waiting on getting the engine back, the suspension is in, front pogo shocks reengineered a bit, engine goes in, pipe goes in and then I have to design a new steering column that brings the steering out more in the cab - more up than angles back like the elan. This will allow me to keep the weight forward which will keep the front down - right now it just wants to stand straight up - and the 151 track should keep it flatter as well.

  • @lshobie ooops, forgot to say when - if all goes well i'm hoping before october. This thing has to be ready to rock when the snow hits.

  • sell me it! lol man thats nice, great idea with the pogo shocks, man thats sucha nice sled

  • @wade239 Thanks! Should be fun this coming year! I lost 20 pounds and the sled is 70 pounds lighter with more power - good times!

  • VERY NICE- now that's a sleeper

  • Louis that thing looks KILLER! Looks like a retro sled on a cycle or roids.

  • @delanuez Thanks! wait till you see it in a month! Major changes happening:)

  • looks like it took alot of time but well worth it great vid and even better sled

  • sick elan man

  • @yamaharules163 Thanks!

  • good job man I have a ski doo nordic thats going down the same road as your elan currently I have a 503 rotax in it and im planing on puting in modern suspension check my vidieos out.

  • @kindeed2009 Very cool!

  • Looking forward to your future mods, awesome build and awesome camera work, top notch job.

  • @jamesgoodine Thanks very much, tough to find time to work on sleds now but picking away at it. Just did a gear swap to up the top speed to 72.9 mph, new suspensions installed, should be getting the engine back soon. Thanks for watching!

  • Looking forward to your future mods, awesome build and awesome camera work, top notch job.

  • i bet u couldd go across some water on that sweet video

  • @jencas123 Hmm, maybe - maybe I'll try that some day:)

  • i like it but why put that much money in a sled how much have u spent relly tho could of u just bought a new tundra 550 fan or the new tundra extreme.

  • @cheesist Umm, have you priced a tundra extreme or new tundra? Trust me I don't have that much into my sled. And with the way the tundra "extreme" is bending from just regular use you won't see me buying one any time soon.

  • nice vid man . and i have a question i have a citation ls 250 and i want to put a gp 338 in it do you know if it will fit on it . merci and nice elan again

  • @poilderaie hmm, if you have the tools and can use your head you can make anything fit.

  • Awesome!

  • @cubbeezx thanks!

  • good job man you got a sweet sled there

  • @15rylzey Thanks!

  • Holy F***. Man that is one awesome sled. are you gonna do double A-Arms up front? because I was thinking about putting some on my 340 Olympic. If you are doing double A-Arms can you do a build series on them so I have an idea on how to start my project

  • @krankedsilver No no , not now - I have the pogos - much easier to install - I would doo that instead of A arms if I were you.

  • are you from BC?

  • @TheHondaAbuser Nope, - ontario - wish I was in BC for all that snow!

  • Holy Sears catalog man you are a fuckin genius ,i love what you did i love your videos and i love what you ended up with ,really something original you can be proud of ,thank you thank you you give me the encouragement i need in my own endeavors ,i lack the skills to upload video,s as of yet but when i do your the first guy i will tell about what i did ,thanks for sharing.

  • @FrankaDith I always appreciate your comments Frank - keep me motivated:)

  • man this thing is awesome...what was the cost to build the new tunnel?

  • @joehara123 It was alot of money! I have chosen to wipe the cost of this thing out of my head - better that way and safer for he marriage:)

  • @lshobie yeah...i hear ya ...its way cooler then money anyway...

  • @joehara123 I like the way you think!

  • nice build but you could of just bought a brand new sled haha lol its still cool and awesome

  • @megatundraboy lol, ya but then I would not have been able to build this thing! I'll still buy a new sled anyway and keep this one for fun - and it is serious fun - nothing will touch it when it is done - 350 pounds wet with 151 and a 540 fan.

  • @lshobie haha thats true . what kind of sled are you buying

  • @megatundraboy No idea yet, everything seems to be crap these days - the new tundra extreme bends too easily and breaks, would probably buy a VK 540 viking - I like my utility sleds.
