Shoot last time I tried to cut a donut like that is was in the grass and my power steering pump quit working. Put it in a bind soo bad that the spinning rod that the pully attaches too snapped in half.lol
@GMCman82 T.C. has nothing to do with the rear diff. The g80 is a locking diff which makes both of the wheels spin instead of just one like this envoy
@chevyman8329 your post never appeared in my inbox, anyway T.C. when active of course you know transfers power from wheel to wheel front and/or back. when its on, my rear end (g80) wont lock into full posi. when both do start to pull if the ass end starts to go left or right, it will disengage to straighten it out. when T.C. is turned off, the G80 works automatically and will remain engaged as long as its needed just like my 1500 sierra Z71. G80 + wet road/snow with no T.C = busted ass.
@StaKind85 mushy down low? thats because of the torque management. after a certain mph they freakin haul ass dont they. you can turn the torque management off. my insurance is pretty good on mine.
@GMCman82 I didnt know that, I thought it was just the way the power curve was. How, exactly, do I turn off the Torque Management? Also how can I turn the speed limiter off, now it wont go over 106-107mph...just curious. I REALLY want to know about the Torque Management more, though. Id be a happy camper if you could tell me how to make that sucker pull as hard down low as it does at high rpm! Mine is 2wd and has no traction control or stability control.
@StaKind85 the traction control button if you have one is on the side of the shifter near where your thumb rests. if you have an onboard comp. display under where it shows P R N D 3 2 1 , cycle through the options to where you see stabilitrack and select "off". if you dont have those you might just need a programmer.
That's not a burnout per se. It's technically part donuts and part burnouts. lol The sliding motion of going in a circle to do a donut really helps with a donut. Heck, my uncle's former 1970 chrysler could do a donut and a little bit of a burnout while doing so. :-P
It's easy, but you can only do it on the RWD model. It's not gonna happen on a 4WD. I've done it in my Envoy too (actually a video of me doing it, though I had new 10 in tires so I had to go a bit faster). Find a parking lot that is empty and you have a LOT of room. You're going to cause the back tires to lose their grip on the ground as the engine spins them.
1st, make sure your air conditioner is off (that's important). Let the car roll at idle speed and start to turn (I find going right is easier for me to burn out). As you're maybe a third of the way through your turn, floor the gas pedal and turn the wheel more sharply. If done correctly, the combination of the sudden increase in torque from the engine and the other forces on the tire from turning should be enough to break the grip.
Once you have the hang of it, you can try and do a big circle like on here. New asphault is more slick than older so it's easier on there. Conversely old tires have less grip (obviously). Aftermarket tires (such as 10 in wide street tires like mine) are a tad harder to burn out with.
Thanks a lot man. I used to be able to drift out the back end all the time but I never got it to really tear it up continuously like in this vid. Luckily I got the 2wd with optional 4wd :) Thanks again

needs a g80. any vehicle can do that spinning 1 wheel.
chevyman8329 1 year ago
@chevyman8329 you have to turn off the traction control to do that to the computer wont let you spin them.

If you had the G80 rear end you couldn't have done it! My 5.3 V8 with the G80 has a hard time lighting up the rear tires even powerbraking!
kclm7 4 years ago
it's called traction controll it's not the rearend, tho the 5.3L v8 (or any pushrod engine for that fact, sucks)
as do you

bigrig7441 4 years ago
Careful, your right rear wheel is etching really badly. Any sharper of a turn and you probably would have blown out or scraped the rim on the ground.
