i was in the clubs when this tune was playing out loud! yeah! I also love Hall & Oates and they were great friends! similar music.. miisss daa 80sss!! xxx
I associate this with Streets Of Fire, a forgotten 80's movie, because my 45 single of this had the movie art with Michael Pare on it. It sounded great on movie screen theater speakers. THanks for posting HQ - the live version bugs me.
I concider myself so fortunate to have my childhood captured in time with such great tunes like this Dan Hartman classic. I feel sorry for young people today. The '80's were the best time to grow up!! Such good times (what the hell happened?)!!!!!!
@yada7777 ah lol! at "what the hell happened" ;-)
I grew up in the nineties and I thought that you guys "had it all" even then. like.. I mean "1994" I was gazing at the decade earlier back before almost anyone was. I'm glad for you all. It looked fun.
@yada7777 we f-it-up for them...they can't even find a good job...they are not having a good time...we inherited a beautiful country and look what we left for them...we let people like george w bush run this country into the gutter and did nothing to stop him and so this is what is left....
@yada7777 I was born in 1995 and can only listen to this great music and enjoy it. Such a shame I was born at the wrong time.. Totally agree with you, this is the best music there has ever been!
Great song from back in the day... Dan Hartman got his start back in the '70s with the Edgar Winter group - he wrote and sang "Free Ride". We miss him... as if we need another reason to find a cure for HIV.
As someone once said... if there's a rock and roll Heaven, they've got one hell of a band there.
He used to hang out with my older brother in Harrisburg Pa growing up. He was a humble person with soo much talent. I have only fond memories of him. RIP. .
Great song - they just don't make them like this anymore, and it is a great pity. Only concerned now with how much tits and ass they can cram into their next video clip!
@raymesquite I hear you... Billy Vera & The Beaters "At This Moment" does similar for me. All I need to hear is that intro & I'm right back there... riding with my dad in car, on-way to pick-up my brother coming home from camp that night, listening to the radio before Reagan's address came on. I still hear the radio-man talking about how that "obscure" song went national on "Family Ties" then skyrocketed before he began playback of it. Wow....

This song came out after I had met someone years before...and when I first heard...it took my back to that time..WOW, and after 33 years I got connected to him on F B of all places! Its a good song and a Good memory...RIP Dan Hartman you may be gone..But this song will live forever!
This is one of those few, rare songs that give me that weird feeling...you know, that feeling that if I had some repressed memory of being molested as a child, it was probably to this song...
@ThePeteMossShow With the name Dan and Hartman?? Does that sound like a name a black person would have??? I have met TONS of black people in my life so far and never one named DAN!....lol
@mnc51 LOL very good point, never thought about that, I remember this song from a movie, cant remember name, but seem like this song was in it and maybe Morris day in the movie, streets of something maybe, 80s movie lol
My all time favorite song......I may be showing my age but i asked a guy at the store to hold the 45 for me cause i left my wallet at home and just had to have it.....Dan could rock it out!!!!!
Sorry to burst your bubble - but thats what science is for - your bro and Dan were both sagitarius born in september by complete chance - and its not even unlikely - theres only 12 star signs - that means everyone in USA is born in same month as 25 million other Americans. The chances of 1 of those 25 million being a personal celebrity is almost 1oo%
Here's a song that can bring tears to my eyes, quicker than any 80's tune. I was in my mid 20's, when this came out, and, it makes me think back when this was popular, and how my life was happier, and I was younger. Its just one of the best 80's tunes, ever recorded.
I understand how you feel. This song brings me pain in my heart. I miss my childhood so much. I was young and happy in the 1980's. How I wish I can go back and relive that era again. I miss my young life.
So many as so few that have sailed passed the Disco-Pop era with such talent and timeless impact as Dan Hartman. Never ever forgotten......................
It's easy to see why some people think this was Hall & Oates. In fact, Hartman was friends with H&O, and they did an excellent cover of this tune as a tribute to Dan, after he died.
This Hartman at his finest, it would climb to the # 6 spot on the billboard chart in 1984 and in my opinion should have gone to the very top. We lost him way too soon in 1994 but he left behind a legacy that will long live on. What a talent and what they say about the good dying young is so true, R.I.P our dear Danny!!!
@theloveman11378 Yea I love this song. It brings back so many memories of the best time in music and video! I didnt realize he had passed. God we have so many of the great singers of the eighties that I always thought would be around that are gone now.
