  • Like a BOSS!

  • Looks like Huntington Beach-Am I right?

  • were you slow rolling the lure or were you jerking it

  • @youngfishingboy3333

I change it up quite often between slow retrieve, fast retrieve and always toss a few pauses in between. This halibut however, hit the lure right after I gave it the initial tug after it hit the water.

  • @the1ludder thanks

  • Nice. What kind of rod and reel did you use?

  • @remelsheikh

Shimano Clarus 8'6" ML, Daiwa Regal 5ia 2500 with 10lb braid

  • Good job bro!!!

  • thats a flounder

  • @privatefamily1 It's a Hali-. This is california.

  • what lure did u use?

  • @theludder1 All right thanks. Bought both krocodile and kastmaster spoons today. I'll let u know how I do with em.

  • Can u use a krocodile or kastmaster spoon for surf halibut fishing??? If so, how far do u cast, how do u fish it, and what set up?

  • Hermosa Beach

  • Nice! Ever try the sebile magic swimmer 125? My new fav flatty killer.

  • @STUPEDAS0 ((sebile magic swimmer 125))

really... any particular color? blue back silver side I assume? I have a few already.

Just got the inshore LC's metalic sardine. always my go to bait.

  • ok, thank you

  • does the lure sink in the bottom?

  • The Flashminnow is a suspending lure. When it hits the water, I usually give it 1 good tug to get the ball bearings realigned in the lure rather than all of them sitting at the tail of the lure and it also pulls the lure deeper into the water for my retrieve.

  • Hey, nice halibut man. I've just recently become addicted to surf fishing and can't seem to get enough. From the your previous replies I see what kind of gear you were using. I understand all that. I'm just curious exactly how you would fish the luckycraft minnow? Slow retrieve or quick retrieve? Did you use any type of weight on your line or rig? Also, did you have to cast into the surf or past the surf line? Sorry this is a lot of questions at once. Any advice is greatly appreciated :) Thanks

  • What rig were you using?

  • Shimano Clarus 8'6" ML, Daiwa Regal 5ia 2500 with 10lb braid, throwing Luckycraft Flashminnow 110SP

  • hardbaits work? Hmm.. I've never tried that.. How long did it take you?

  • Definitely. It's actually become quite a go-to lure for halibuts for so cal light tackle surf fishers.

This halibut was actually caught near the end of my 2-3 hours session. One of my better days at Hermosa Beach.

    You should check out scsurffishing.

Lots of good information about surf fishing on that board.

  • @the1ludder are you attaching it directly to your mainline or are you using a fluorocarbon leader with uni to uni?

  • @CallUrDrop I tie directly to the main line. I don't like to have a knot going through my guides when casting and retrieving.
