Can you eat White Beans with the 4 hour body? He says to avoid anything white, but do these beans fall into that category?
I live in the Netherlands where bad carb is extreme. Common for people to eat 10+ pieces of bread a day and pastries. Grocery stores here are not nearly as good as in the USA (born and raised in FL).
I love the white beans in tomato sauce, hope that doesn't have to change! Thanks in advance for answering!

@banihex Thanks for the question. You can absolutely eat white beans on the SCD. White beans are a staple of many mediterranean diets. I have some recipes in the works that feature white beans...stay tuned
Mark, what kind of dishes, snacks or recipes come to mind when you use garbanzos? Hummus is an obvious choice, though I lack a food processor, but I'd like to find more ways to incorporate them into my diet to help me feel full. Do they replace some other non-slow carb foods well in recipes? What do you think?
Great question about chickpeas or garbanzo beans. You can absolutely have them on the SCD. Whether or not you choose to use cooked canned beans or cook your own, they are a great addition to salads.
The challenge with this ingredient is that you can also make hummus with garbanzo beans. Nothing is really all that bad about hummus, as long as it doesn't become a domino food or something that you eat with pita bread, which is not allowed on the SCD.
Chef Mark, Tim talks about eating foods that we cannot stop just eating a little of. He refers to chick peas, I thought garbanzo beans (chick peas) were legumes. I really enjoy having them in my salad. What are your thoughts on this?
@5boyzmom - Hey There and thanks for the question. Garbanzo beans are absolutely a part of the Slow Carb Diet. I think Tim was just worried that one might eat too much Hummus or have to find a warm piece of pita bread to dip into it!!! Seriously though, hummus is made with all approved items on the SCD menu...beans, olive oil, fresh garlic, lemon juice, a bit of Tahini paste, and some seasonings. I will have a recipe coming out soon!
I like corn. Corn is high in carbs. Do I restrict or eliminate altogether?
