I knew many of those old trucks, and drove a few of them. The old AB84's were good workers in the late 60's Most of them had 160 Cummins or 6.354 Perkins and Fuller gearboxes and two speed diffs. I drove one of them for a while. I remember Santa's old mercedes and float. I carried some of his equipment sometimes. I drove the yellow and white Kenworth near the end a little, when Bill Pattel owned it. The 988 loader with the ejector bucket was at Greenvale nickel mine. Thanks for the memories.
@DL55driver Your more than welcome. It's good to share these old photos and experiences with others. The only truck I was old enough to remember was the UD at the end. I used to do a lot of trips with my uncle in this truck when I was 7-8yrs old

To think what these old Inters pulled around in their day. I liked the Dodge's that shared the same cab a little more. A bit nicer styled. Great photos and a good soundtrack choice.
This was back in the days when men were men; when you sleep on the bench seat and make do. Unlike the modern hauler with its sleeper cab, micorwave, decent stereo and air conditioning. Not to mention the ride is a hell of a lot comfier than in these old timers.
I take it you meant Studebakers. If so sorry none in here. All of those old balck and whites are of an international that my uncle drove. all australian trucks
@coewee Not entirely true about moving houses. A lot of those old weatherboard houses end up as beach shacks these days. You do see the occasional one getting towed, doing their best to make the phrase "moving house" literal
A bit of trivia for you. I've lived in Ayr all my life and recognise some of the low-loader shots...obviously your uncle worked for "Franco" at some stage. I believe the low-loader on the Mercedes was the first one in the area and was a ex-army tank transporter. Keep posting, great work, good of you to share these photo's.
Hey awesome video and song, Im from the burdekin and just wondering who your dad was. and just wondering if most of the pictures were taken in the burdekin
excelent video! love the old trucks with a passion. my grandfather had a albion reiver along with single drive white 9000 working in albion reid. the last few 40 seconds of the 4 kw's lined up look awsome and the twin steer kw looks mean! just abt 2 watch vid now...
absoloutly awesome video man. my dad used to drive on of those old inters.
he passed away before i really started driving but i hope he'd be proud, generally driving a new kenworth and spent tonight and tomorrow night in a signature powered iveco b double. bit different to what he drove and these old girls.
Yep sure is. if look at some of the house moving pics you'll see 2 or even 3 trucks moving the one house together. The wide load seen crossing the burdekin river bridge was 21 foot wide and travelled 1800km down the main hiway.
I know of someone who lives between Quambone & Carinda (out in the middle of whoop-whoop in central western NSW) who has one of these trucks! If you ever get the chance to buy a book, get The ACCO: An Aussie Icon by Peter Lynch - the book details every ACCO built up to today's IVECO ACCO 2350G (pretty much!). Paid $39.95 for my copy through Rally Badges, Tatura, Victoria (phone (03) 58241734 to order)
No problems, already have a copy of this and the LEADER book as well, another good one to get if you can find a copy is "The World Encyclopedia Of Trucks" will guarantee it has every truck ever built in the world up to the publishing date, eeven one off home made jiggers.
I brought the Leader one too!! I found it by slim chance via a Google search - will keep in touch with you through your channel... I have an e-mag for you called Australasian Classic Commercials - will give you the editor's personal email address as well as the mag's email address through a PM on your channel!
