my mom took me to see screams of a winter night and the brood when i was 6 FUCKING 6 !!!then the next weekend my dad took me to see Dont go in the House and Dont pick up the Phone I WAS SIX!!!! WHY? but i turned out ok (twiches and face tics>
I miss those grubby independent video libraries that went extinct somewhere in the mid 90s. I had a local one where the owners would smoke inside & i used to love skipping school & grabbing 5 now obscure titles at a time. All video libraries now are so generic it's sickening, i would never find anything that interests me in one of those. That's why i don't waste my time with video libraries anymore, they're all shit now, i rely on the internet. The video library is slowly becoming extinct anyway
Dude you are right on the money with that awesome comment. I couldn't have said it better myself. I did the same thing for years. Go to the best video store I could find, that had the best horror section and rent them all till I had seen 'em all again and again. Then move on to the next vid store and do the same. I tried to make my collection the "ultimate" video stores horror section. It's been a lot of fun doing so. I'm an internet shopper today myself. Stores are gone. Thanks for writing. J.
sad these are probably so rare because all the vid stores threw em out when they made the change to DVD. about 6 years ago i picked up some corny 70s n 80s vhs for a dollar a piece from video easy. a real shame you probably couldnt find them anywhere now days and now all the dvds in the store are just summer blockbusters from the past 10 years
You're so right MrThommyB. In with the DVD's and out with the old VHS tapes. That is the thinking of all national chains. And while that does stink, it sure helped me to get a lot of great movies I wanted bad. But, now the DVD is next to go. They'll attempt to push the bluray on us all next. I know it looks amazing, but I can't afford 'em. Not on a large scale, at least. I don't even have a HDTV yet bro. I'm so VHS. haha. Thanks for commenting! Later, J.
Darn. I want one Japan released vid, or two. Both Shark films. The Last Shark (Great White) and another I can't remember the title off hand, haha. Silly me. Thanks for commenting. Later, J.
That's where I've seen it before. Since I don't have another release from overseas's I passed. Thought I'd wait on a official American DVD release but, no luck on that. I guess I'll have to go the VHS route, which is fine by me. Thanks for the info. Later, J.
There's a chapter on this movie in the GREAT and recent book on 70s & 80s exploitation flicks: NIGHTMARE USA. And last summer Quentin Tarrentino screened it as part of his GRIND HOUSE FILM FEST in L.A. I've heard the producers have gotten a lot of response and will be making it available on dvd later this year. Tarrentino and the book writer, Steven Thrower, think it's the first "kids go off somewhere" scare flick. And the director doesn't snub it.
Thanks for the great comment. Appreciate you posting all this info. "Screams..." has developed a nice little cult following. The DVD will be a gift for all Horror film fans. I know a lot of fans have waited a long time to see it. I think it's worth the wait. It is a solid film, for sure. Thanks for checking out my vid, too. Later, J.
Oh wow. I would be very proud if I were associated with a classic like "Screams..." Weird a director would snub his own work. Thanks for the comment, too. Later, J.
It sells for a high price, if it is in good condition. If the artwork is missing or damaged, it will sell for much less. Ebay is the only place I know to try. With some patients you'll get one at a good price, I bet. Hope that works out for ya. Later, J.
"Screams" is a classic drive-in movie, and I saw it back in '79.
I was able to track down (through much trial and tribulation) a bootleg video copy. Despite the passage of time, several of the sequences are still creepy, especially the one in which the frat pledges are in the abandoned hotel.
If anyone is looking for a copy of "Screams", there used to be a company in Ohio called DCS Video Screams that used to offer it. The quality isn't the best, but it's better than nothing.
Oh, I wish I was that good. I can't do any of that stuff. I can't even hardly burn a CD, if I'm lucky. Even though I can't do it, I bet someone will do it soon. Thanks for checking out my channel. Sorry. Later, J.
Screams Of A Winter Night is worth every penny. No doubt. If you aren't worried about a cover art in the box, and will accept cut artwork you will get the film a lot cheaper, too. Good luck on that, it is hard to find even on ebay. But not impossible. Later, J.
Screams of a Winter Night: does your copy have the scene of the two guys going to the cemetary and one ends up impaled on the iron gate? this scene was in the film when i saw it at the theater in 1979. i finally got a DVD copy and the scene was gone.
not sure. it was one of the "tales" told by the group. pretty sure it was NOT the first or last tale. i remember to my young mind at the time it was the scariest of all. moaning mummies with glowing red eyes and howling wind and shit. i'm afraid the director or someone cut it from the video version. but maybe yours has it.
Yeah. I watch them all once, at least. The rare one's for sure. I'm usually dying to know what is so rare about them. Most of the time they're nothing special, just hard to find. Later, J.
Just OK. I don't remember much about it, so it wasn't too good or too bad. I remember that there is another short movie on the same tape called The Hook Of Woodland Heights, and it is a little better. A slasher sort of. Later, J.
You have so much cool stuff. I would LOVE to be your best friend. I have a lot of tapes that I haven't moved from my mom's house, but my horror collection is NOWHERE near as vast as your's!! All of my DVDs are at my new place, but the VHS tapes are starting to develop a nostalgic feel, and I wish I had them around to boast as part of my collection. And that Holy Terror is extremely rare...I have NEVER seen that! Alice, Sweet Alice is one of my favorite movies EVER! Your videos are so cool.
Oh man, thanks a lot. That HOLY TERROR is untouchable. I absolutely love Alice, Sweet Alice and always dreamed of getting the film under an alternate title, like Holy Terror or Communion. This Astral Video release blew me away. Same film, of course, but the title HOLY TERROR comes across the screen in the opening sequence, only difference.
oh my god i've been trying to find have a nice weekend for so long. great finds man! i'm wicked jealous.

A DVD release is going to a long time away since the director hates the film so much.
I've had the video forever. Great film.
