Saw em live last yr in Melbourne AUS. One of the best live shows i've ever been to, and one of the best nights of my life. Despite what most folk think, phil's a great bloke. On the night his throat was fucked and you could tell he wanted to split after an hour but kept on into the second hour and then some! I have great respect for how far he's come. I shook the Man's hand!!! Haven't had a shower since then.. Man do i stink
pantera was an excellent band yes id say they did much better but how xcan u hate on the lead singer phil and i think all 3 albums by down are fucking bomb and pantera anit making no new music so take that how u want but DoWn fucking rocks if u cant see that then u smoke pcp
yeah dumbshit Dimebag played fast AND good, in fact he was one of the best soloists in metal, not to mention all the heavy-ass riffs he wrote in pantera
i saw them two days ago, best show ive ever seen, scored like 3 or 4 picks, and i got to meet kirk, phil and rex both were lookin at our group cause of my pantera flag, taht shit was the bomb!!! down is the best fuckin band!!!
no they didnt, but they still put on one hell of a show, the song eyes of the south is probably the best song they have, i love this fuckin band everytime they hit up chicago im goin
I saw these guys with Metallica on Saturday! Scored a drumstick and 3 guitar picks and had phil snarl at me! Simply amazing. Both bands were kick ass!!
For me the singer is most important. If I don't like the singer I will not like the music. This is why singers can switch bands and still have a following. How many guitarist or drummers can do that?
i agree but not all guitarist are replaceable.. like zeppelin wouldnt be the same without jimmy page.. and drums.. metallica wouldnt be the same without lars..
definately not... Metallica wouldnt be, or wouldnt be anything like they are, if it wasnt for lars... lars builds the band just as much as the others, and he knows what he's doing on the drums if that is your "argument" lol...
back to on-topic: this song's awesome, love it when that riff kicks in at about 00:40
i dont know about being better without him...its possible i guess. one thing is for sure. if youve ever watched lars play, especially here lately, hes like the laziest drummer ever. not saying hes not playing the parts well. hes just lacking energy anymore.
I totally agree with you...lars is not creative in creating drum parts for metallica's last few albums...he try to play everything as simple as he can...
I read on some website that Down blew Metallica away at a festival in Europe. Can't remember which one...but yeah, I saw Down last November, and it was easily the best live show I've ever seen!
Anything Phil Ansemo does you know it is good. I am sure he helps with guitars or gives constructive critisizm like in Pantera days. Pantera,SJR,Down, and Hellyeah, all good metal bands.
p.s. - here's the best show i've probably ever had the privilege of seeing (out of *hundreds* if not *thousands*) -- take out the spaces and convert the dot to a period -- youtube dot com / watch?v=g4LXnqsTEPA
wow, u were there!!?? awesomness. seen them the other day after probly the worst weekend of ma life, was a total counteraction lol, totally overwhelmed after seein half of pantera!! plus they were sellin posters for £1 ootsite the venue. TUNE DOWN, BUST UP, AND SAB OFF!!!

depends on personal preferences. as with all bands, buy their stuff, figure out what rings to you. this album is amazing
Ele3tricEye 3 years ago
I agree, I'm trying to see if Phil Anselmo is getting what he is due.
From what I see though it is a huge change from how angry Pantera was, to this mellow stuff.
Though this song is probably the best song I've found by 'Down' so far.
