You need to put much more pressure on bag that's why your getting empty parts on petals or your icing is to stiff but your roses are really nice thanx

I've only tried to make buttercream roses on two separate occasions and became frustrated by my roses tearing like that, but much worse in my case. I also had to squeeze very hard. Was my icing too stiff? If I added more liquid it immediately seemed to become too thin. I used a pretty standard recipe with half butter half shortening and thinned it with corn syrup and also heavy cream. Any advice?

We used buttercream for this rose. We mix 1/2 lb of butter with 1/2 lb of crisco, and 1kg of Icing Sugar and a tsp of vanilla and a touch of water to make it creamy. Make sure you whip it good. Thanks for asking.

Your video is great but I can't seem to get mine to stay up. It collapses all the time. Do you have a special icing that you use? Would you share it with us please?
I do cake decorating. Your problem is most likly because your icing isn't stiff enough. Most flowers require stiff icing or they won't stay up. 1 tbs of morang powder per lb of icing will most likly fix your problem sweet4u21!!!
Great tip! We use a stiff icing as well. To make buttercream that is great for doing roses we mix 1Kg of sifted icing sugar with 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of shortening, a tbsp of vanilla, and a little water to make it all mix to a smooth texture. Good Luck!
did you use a buttercream from scratch or did you just buy it? i like how the way you did the cone with the same tip with the pedal tip. the wilton way you use two tips one for the cone and the other for the pedals.
Nice rose. I see you are placing your roses on wax or parchment paper. I do that when I want to make alof of roses and pick out the best ones to put on the cake. But most of the time I use a pair of scissors to take the rose off the flower nail and place my rose directly on the cake while making it. I find that scissors work easier for me than a spatula. I find that my my roses or other flowers slip off the spatula when I am doin that.

you should shake the piping bag after you put the icing in to get the air bubbles out snd you dont get a ripped petaled flower look but overall I love your technique way more than the others Ive seen!!!

when making your icing try adding just a touch of water and whip it really well. That should help with the "thickness"
