  • LOL "the entire Vatican" !!!

  • yo lo uso

  • You are hilarious!!! OMG!!!

  • I tried essence in a magazine tester. And I have to say that after 3 years of not finding a proper fragrance for me,I finally found it.

I love it so much that I literally stole the tester from a magazine in a dentists office.

Amazing.Just the price is a bit shocking.

  • @ChinchillaChannel258 Haha, scent strip thief! Price-wise, don't sweat it, because wearing it will bring you joy every day for at least a year or more that the bottle lasts.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Thanks :) I will buy it that is for sure. The smell of "essence" is just so addictive.

I am looking forward to seeing myself in the bottle mirror fun house thing :)

    <3 your videos

  • If sunlight hurts my eyes, then this might be too much for my nose. What does moonlight smell like to you, as perfume?

  • @muniqueen1 Hmmmm....Chanel No. 19 and L'Artisan Parfumeur Cote d'Amour.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells

ummmm . . .So many new things for me to go sniff out!

  • Today I bought NR for her. I think it's so pretty. I smelled this one too, but everything was mixing in my nose by that time.

You recomended Channel ?? Premierre for me and I love it. Didn't buy it today bc I bought 3 other perfumes yesterday and was feeling a little guilty.

    4 perfumes this weekend. :o

  • @Sevipants19 Sounds like a pretty good nose-splurge.

  • I swear, I must be anosmic to the musks in NR and Lovely, because both of them hardly smell like anything at all to me but chemical undertones.

  • @Peregrine77 Yep, sounds like you're anosmic to those musks, all right. I have the same experience with Annick Goutal Musc Nomade.

  • PFFFF

  • Hello its tia :) . love your review XD great video

  • Hi Tia - thanks indeedy!

  • What does eau de parfum really mean?

  • Eau de parfum refers to the concentration of perfume oils in a perfume. The higher the amount of perfume oil in a fragrance, the longer it will last, and the truer it will stay smelling.

A "parfum" has the highest amount, followed by "eau de parfum", then "eau de toilette", then "cologne" or "body spray".

  • This is cool, Thanks for the invite!! smell ya later...(cheezy I know :D)

  • Ha-ha - sometimes, you gotta go with cheesy!

  • wow!

i love how you described that perfume :)

    i think i might try it :)

    thanks!

  • Lemme know what you think of it!

  • hoow HAPPY!!!!! great video!!

  • HI ITS JACKY

  • I don't get it.... is it just a perfume????

  • Yep, just a perfume.

  • hahahahahhahaha i love it xD lmao

  • How much did you get paid to make this video?

  • I don't get paid anything to do this channel. It's a labor of love.

  • hope to see more of those videos..

  • Me too! Oops, gotta get crackin'!

  • Really appreciate it, TGC!

  • Ok, you got me, I subscribed! You are a hoot, but I think you need another candle on the table behind you. ROFL! Now I've got to watch more of your vids.

  • Haha! Welcome aboard!

  • haha! got ur email :) that was funny! you just got yourself a subscription!! keep up the vids!!!

  • @DAZZLEthem4REAL Thanks a million!

  • I LOVE PERFUMES!

  • I got your YT email!! Just subbed!! thanks!! Great reviews!

  • i respect that

  • It's a well-composed perfume, very skillfully put together. It's down to whether you like a perfume that has Essence's crispy-clean soapy smell.

  • That was honestly one of the most original perfume reviews i have ever seen in my life! kudos!

  • Thank you! I had a lot of fun doing this one.

  • i want thiz purfumee XD 5*

  • I thinks it pretty good expaontione bout the perfooum

  • thanks for the video sand me some cologne

  • how would it change ?

  • Do you mean the way my perception of the perfume changed? Well, I just picked up on different aspects of the fragrance every time I revisited it. And when you smell more than one perfume at a time, it can sometime emphasize things by comparison, or it can completely overwhelm your nose.

  • I was really curious about this perfume after listening to your description, so I went and tried it out. I don't know if it's because I was influenced by your description, but all I could smell was Dove bar soap! In fact *sniffs* yes... yes it still smells to me like Dove bar soap.

  • This sister is soapy, that's for sure!

  • hi katie.

  • Hi Candice!

  • I Subscribed. I love purfume to!:)

  • That's totallyfab, totallyfab! Glad you're here to join the fun.

  • Hi Katie, can you recommend an incency perfume without the powdery note? I loved Organza Indecence but I think it's discontinued because I've only seen Organza in stores.

  • Oooh, frankincense is just about my very favorite smell in a perfume, and it's so hard to find in mainstream fragrances (it's everywhere in the indie lines).

  • Try these:

Laura Mercier Minuit Enchanté (rich, sweet, woody, spicy; limited edtion at Nordstrom; great value for pure parfum)

Miller Harris Fleur Oriental (incense & flowers; one of my faves)

    Kenzo Amour (vanilla & incense)

Guerlain Habit Rouge (orange/vanilla/woody; for men, but smells gorgeous on women, including me!)

Guerlain Shalimar (classic smoky vanilla oriental)

  • And these:

Prada L'Eau Ambrée (a paler version of Shalimar/Fleur Oriental)

Lolita Lempicka L (sweet/spicy woody vanilla/orange; not so big on the incense, though)

  • Oh - I just thought of another great incense perfume, and I'm wearing it now:

Donna Karan Black Cashmere (incense, cloves, woods, saffron, vanilla)

Organza Indecence was re-issued in 2007 (reformulated slightly sweeter than the original, apparently), so you should be able to track it down. Perhaps online?

  • Hi Katie,

I'm a guy and I would like to know what fragrance screams: I'm single and ready to mingle A.S.A.P. :)

    Love your reviews.

  • Heh! I don't think a fragrance can do all of your legwork for you - you have to show up with a little of your own spark and verve. And it's important to wear something YOU actually like, cuz if you feel good about yourself, others will pick up on that and feel good about you, too!

Here are a few suggestions in different genres:

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver (fresh, crisp vetiver)

    Bulgari Black (warm, learthery vanilla)

Christian Dior Homme (classy, woody iris)

Prada Amber Pour Homme (soft, clean)

  • Some more to try:

Tom Ford for Men Extreme (rich, sensual, fruity leather)

Annick Goutal Les Nuits dHadrien (woody lemon & amber)

Hermès Terre d'Hermès parfum or edt (earthy citrus)

  • I love ur reviews! I love getting a review where they actually tell you what it smells like not just that "its their Favy-favorite smell and everyone loves it when I wear it" review.... so Hats off to you.

  • Thanks for the doffing of the cap, BirdsMom!

  • Indeed you do smell KT. And you do it so well.

  • Cheers, dazigg!

  • Hello, Katie--

I'd asked you some time ago to recommend a fragrance that "had some history," and you recommended Joy, among others. I found a bottle that was on sale (I know mentioning price is tacky, but I do that to alleviate my own guilt) and I love it. I feel so good when I wear it. Forget putting on lipstick to feel better, give me Joy!

Thanks again, you have yet to lead me astray with your suggestions.

  • Oh, that's a marvelous testimonial! Thanks for letting me know.

Speaking of perfumes with history, I've recently been enjoying Molinard Habanita, with its powdery, spicy tobacco.

  • Oo, that sounds nice. "Perfumes: The Guide," is indispensable to me. I think that once we get back on track employment-wise, I may allow myself a monthly or bi-monthly perfume allowance, and use the book and your videos as advice. My mental wish list is getting longer....

    Have you smelled Mitsouko?

  • Habanita is handily budget-friendly, not to be a devil...

I visit Mitsouko every time I see it in a store. I'm fascinated, but I can't quite carry it off. Its long history weighs too heavily on me - it's so much more deep and glamorous than I am, I'm not a convincing Mitsouko "mannequin".

  • hmm, i should try this, i love narcisco rodriguez's for her, and i like soapy, so maybe i'll like it....

i love your videos by the way, its nice to see someone else who is obsessed with perfume as i am!!

  • I'm koo-koo for Coco Puffs about perfume.

Essence is really different to For Her, but if you like clean clean clean smells, you might like this one.

  • Wow this was a great review! This perfume might be for me...

  • Try and see!

  • katie - i think i know what it is! perhaps white linen! that has a shell theme and i'm sure it came in a plastic shell in the late 70's. i think i'm going to do a side-by-side comparision. its amazing how scents can take you back!

  • I think you just intuited something verrrry interesting, Holmes! White Linen is indeed a bright, aldehydic floral. Could Essence be the updated White Linen? Now I want to do a comparison! Thanks for this insight.

  • Alrighty, so I did a comparision. Holy cow, Essence is a fresh breeze compared to White Linen. But I would call it a more modern version. Okay, off to scrub White Linen off my wrist -groddy! Essence is nice though.

  • That's so interesting to hear. Thanks for doing the "lab work". We now know that Essence is WL's granddaughter.

  • I'm so glad you hit on the White Linen comparison. I just compared WL and Essence at the store yesterday, and there certainly is a link. Though as you say, Essence is a fresh breeze next to WL. But they both supply that "turning 'scrubbed clean' into an art" feeling.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Yeah, there is a link...and thats definately where my flashback came from. WL is awful though... but it was a fun trip down memory lane!!

  • You are FUNNY! Love ya!

  • Thanks!

  • Hi Katie - just watched your 'Perfume Review: Essence by Narciso Rodriguez' video. I was drawn to the bottle firstly..it's amazing...and got a little tester from the assistant in the store.. I LOVE IT..can't stop smelling it and I feel lovely..

thats the beauty of fragrance, what one person loves, another hates.

Essence by Narciso Rodriguez - GORGEOUS !

Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them

  • Sounds like Essence is a solid home run for you, FZ! That's wonderful you've found a match. And yes, we're all so individual in our personal tastes and fragrance likes/disllikes are all part of the package.

  • hahaha....give it to someone you dislike.....

  • Holy Flashback, Batman! I went and took a whiff of this today cause I like clean, without lemons. So, this totally smells like this face cream my mom used circa '79-83. It came in plastic shell - how 70's. This isn't a bad thing. I'll have to see if hubby thinks this is old lady though!

  • Now I'm curious to know what that cream is!

I think Essence has too many contemporary touches to smell vintage.

  • I was watching Tv today and the new DG advert came on and I instantly looked up; THATS KATIES THEME TUNE! lol :D x

  • You know it, JinxieMinx!

  • Please please please please please review the True Religion Fragrance for woman!

  • Lol at the balloon headed freak

Love your top, I love anything that's in royal blue or cobalt blue.

Anyway, I'd probably give this a miss cuz I really hate soapy - shampooie perfume, I can never get past the soapiness to wait for the fragrance to dry down, but the bottle design is so unique and futuristic, so I might try it out to see if I can stand the soapiness to buy it.

  • The bottle is a masterwork!

  • It would be great if you reviewed the pink bottle version of Narciso Rodgrigues for Her and compared it to the black bottle one that you've already reviewed :)

  • That would be...thorough...wouldn't it? Arghhhh! All the millions of perfumes out there are piling up on me! lol

  • i dont know this parfume, it's new for me:-/

  • great review katie!

i was wondering if you could do a review on versence by versace.

ive been wanting to buy it, but its a bit expensive.

  • Your reviews are so wonderful. I subscribed to you few days ago and watched all of your videos. You are so pleasant to listen to! People often express a need for smellevision...they obviously haven't listened to the way you describe scents yet!

  • Aww, that's great to hear...I mean read...or smell!

  • Did you do a review on Escada ocean lounge?

  • I haven't.

  • Hey Katie,

    What's your favorite perfume?

  • Chanel Coromandel

  • Have you done a review on Britney's Perfume ''Circus''? x

  • Not yet.

  • Comment removed

  • that was a REALLY good review! i think that i might just go out and buy me some! i love perfumes that smell "aggresively clean!" :)!

  • i'm on the hunt for the perfect fragrance, which for me would be something sexy and somewhat fruity. so far most of the fruity scents i've come across have been too sweet. do you have any suggestions for a perfume which is both sensual and fruity?

  • 2 of my absolute fave frags meet your needs:

By Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses (buy the little travel sizes to cut costs)

    Serge Lutens Féminité du Bois

Both are richly fruity and darkly sensual.

    These are also great:

Serge Lutens Daim Blond (suede apricot)

    Keiko Mecheri Umé (peachy sensual)

LArtisan Parfumeur Mûre et Musc Extreme (blackberry musk)

Gap The Lover (apricot patchouli; discontinued but you can find cheap online)

  • Did you do something with your hair? It looks different... Nice ^^

  • Bangs! Basically, as soon as I grew them out, I cut more in.

  • Can you review Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison please :)

  • Got that on my "to do" list!

  • I love your funny reviews, it different (:

And that was an amazing color on your shirt..

  • Oh, I'm just crazy about that gorgeous royal blue color!

  • Love your reviews.

and I'm with you - I like dirty scents better.

  • Mmmm....dirty.

  • Another grand review! You slay me!

  • hee-hee - thanks!

  • Love your witty, incisive reviews, Katy! I also enjoyed reading them along with hearing you recite them. It's a bit like poetry. I hope you'll post them in the sidebar again! Keep up the good work.

    Lou

  • Thank you, Lou! I recently stopped posting the text in the sidebar now that I'm putting it in the closed captions onscreen. Do you think I should still keep it in the sidebar?

  • Ahum, I wasn't aware of this function at all! This works well, better probably, and most people will at some point find out what captions are, or where to click exactly (duh!). Thanks.

  • sounds interesting :D i loved the balloon head hahaha. curious to smell this :)

also, are there any good rose scented perfumes/colognes for men? currently i'm really liking rose scented things. i used to find the smell of roses headache inducing but not anymore :P

  • i,m,m so glad u send me an invitation cuople of weeks ago ,cause i,m big perfume freak and finally found someone with reviews on them so one would know what to buy exactly :)

  • So glad my reviews are hitting the spot for you, fmnisar.

  • Sometimes i think you must have been a dog in your first life...

  • Woof!

  • lmao @ "balloon headed freak"

  • what this was crazy good

  • Cheers!

  • You are funny,,you made my morning,, I think I will give this on a miss,,Thank you Xx

  • You're welcome!

  • You made my day Katie! Thank you for your wit and intellect...and authentic "being woman" :-) no matter how gay I am...you are No: 1...or if you would prefer...the famous No: 5 :-)

    Have wonderful Holidays!

  • Haha! Thanks, sunnybrett. Happy Hols to you too!

  • "transparent and brittle" simple and sophisticated, its like poetry to me ears Katie! your reviews are awesome.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Well I don't think I'll be trying this, but I am interested in Lolita Lempicka . Thanks for the great review!

  • Hey Katie.. loved the review, but i have question. I am looking for a fragrance that smells like cake batter.. vanilla or chocolate.. just something that smells delicious. Any suggestions? :)

  • You should check out Katie's review of Vanille Abricot.

After watching it, I ordered a sample from Lucky Scent. I really liked it, but it made me crave sweets. My four-year old refers to it as "the jelly-bean smell."

  • Yep! Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot is a good suggestion. That's cake batter with a little bit of fruit in there. For straight cake batter, try Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar by La Maison de la Vanille. For chocolate, try Comptoir Sud Pacifique Amour de Cacao.

  • I love ur videoss !

  • can i make a request for burberry brit edp for women??

  • Oh my goodness! Your discription of the bottle = genius!

Bad acid trip XDD Oh my

  • I looked up Kat von D's Sinner after seeing your favorable review, and I have to say I loved it! It is now on my xmas list ;). I also still wear Lolita Lempicka very often. My friend told me "You smell like a fairy... but not an annoying pipsqueak fairy... like a real woodsy nymphy mischevious fairy".

    Love it.

  • I just can't imagine soap + incense together...The sound like two different things that would never happen together. Interesting review! like the little.. outtake at the end. lol!

  • Ha-ha - you know what to do!

  • I can't tell if you like this fragrance or not!!!

  • I sort of couldn't tell, either! It's well-made, but ultimately not my cup of tea.

  • awesome review! I admire how you're so descriptive and helpful when describing scents even if it might not be one of your favorites. All I could smell in this one is white musk and aldehyde but i'll give my sample another try... I want to find that incense note! :)

  • Please please please please please review the True Rdligion Fragrance for woman!

  • I smeled it yasterday in a magazene, smels like an old Narsiso perfume, not so different from Narsiso Fore Her

  • i love your reviews! you describe perfumes so well and i admire your wit and charm :D keep doin' what you do best!

  • Thanks, brooklyngrls!

  • Oh no, b-a-d acid trip!

    You're so fun!

  • Fun!

  • lol! that was great i love the ending. i think the bottle looks flasky, must smell

  • lol, i love "incensey" but not soapy, i might have to give this a smell though! a badd acid trip haha

  • weirdly enough....that sounds great to me!

  • Essence is a definitive bright, shined-up floral - very well-composed. Could be for you if that's your thing!

  • aahhhh! hahahaha! you always make me laugh! love the fun house mirror and out-takes.

  • The bottle shots were so weird, couldn't resist using more of them!

  • That ending was cute! Great vid kps!!

  • Thanks Katie, your videos are always entertaining! :D

  • I wonder how much perfume she has.

  • I think I'm up to about 60+ bottles in my collection, and have another 50 or so for future giveaways!

  • Incredible! How are you storing them? Actually, I would love to see you make a video about your personal perfume collection....

Thanks for the happy review, you look lovely as always!

  • I really like it =) my dad gave me that the day before yesterday =)

i love that =) smells like orient =)

  • Cool present from Dad!

  • haha fume head freaks!

  • Haha...I actually said "balloon head freaks", but you know how ennunciation goes out the window during bad acid trips in fun houses.
