Okay so was there a big fear of apes around the 30's-50's or something? I mean there were ALOT of them about or featuring homicidal apes. I suppose it might have been somewhat because of King Kong, but The Monster Maker, this, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Gorilla, Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklin Gorilla (Lugosi was in the last two as well as well as that and this), The Ape, Captive Wild Woman which had two sequels and so many more make one wonder.
It's too bad that the Hollywood studio type-cast Bela into these cheaply made b-grade horror films. He could have done much better roles effectively. But I guess he had to make a living.

I love this movie! (you should check out Return of the Ape Man, it may not be a direct sequel but it does star Lugosi)
