Frankly, Modern Sonic music isn't just all rock. Examples: Sonic Rush (sample-heavy funk/jazz/pop/wtf fusion) Sonic and the Black Knight (dominated by folk rock, also contains orchestrals), Sonic 2006 (with rock being about 30% of the music), and Sonic Colors.

After hours of mashing buttons to figure out how to spindash, I got it to work, unknowingly what combo of buttons it was. I was happy...until the flamethrower on top killed me...

@BaconStein then again, i find myself asking this question with every classic game zone. maybe there should have been the 20th anniversary of sonic 1 where they had sonic 1 generations, then 20th of sonic 2 for sonic 2 generations where every classic zone is put up for the "generations" treatment, but i know that's asking too much of sega in a way. but ARGH so frustrating, but the game was epic nonetheless.

Then don't get your hopes too high, for Sonic only has around 7-8 remixes and too many original version songs compared to Mario's 20+ remix count with zero straight rips. Obviously, that's all balanced out by Generations, but still.
