My experience both from programming and creating music tell me that if the soundtrack music and the ingame music are different enough, that's cause GT had (has?) so many textures/models/other data that (ingame) music format seam to be a kind of "Mod" (enhanced midi). I rather prefer the st version! ^^
This reminds me of times in the Merc dealer. I feel so old! I miss my ps2. I still have it, but theres nowhere to put it in my sitting room since we got an xbox.=( I miss u gt3!!!!

You might wanna make sure the ps3 model you buy is compatible with ps2 games. Most models are not.
If you want to play GT3, get a ps2 if you don't already have one.
Oh, and GT5 comes out in 2 months, so get a ps3 anyway.
