  • Very nice art!!!

  • Your are not the only one who make encaustic and other painting thecnics and process...... think in it!

  • great stuff Mo....love watching these..my third or fourth time now i think? lol See you in the group! debsx

  • Exciting work Mo, and fun to watch! : P

I can't wait for my encaustic stuff to be delivered! I just know this is the medium I've always needed.

Thanks for letting me know about the beeswax for future reference, I suppose it doesn't really matter that's it's yellow, although I would have thought this would have greened your blues and oranged your reds, but you demonstrate that this isn't so. I suppose because you just add a greater amount of colour to counteract the yellow?

  • Awesome awesome! I've been looking at books and of videos on encaustic but have been stalling because they make it look so controlled and precise. Watching your videos reminds me that it's good to be free and experiment! No more stalling! Thanks Mo!

  • lady Mo..

what do you do to shine up the works?

    or buff them?

  • When your painting is dry you just use a soft lint free cloth and polish gently. Don't rub too hard as this may scratch the surface. Occasionly you may want to polish paintings that you have on the wall to restore the shine.

  • Great videos Mo, thank you so much for sharing them!

  • Thanks, Mo. ning nang nong...you crack me up!

  • I'm watching your videos again as well, Mo, and I was wondering if you've ever used wax crayons...like what kids use for coloring books...or colored wax candles? Your pieces are so scrumptious! You little rebel, you!!! Just missed you on Gary's ning chat room today..hope to meet you there sometime soon.

  • I havent used wax crayons but I do use oil pastel and watercolour crayons on top of the wax to create line work. It does interesting stuff when you heat it again. I did use wax candles when I first began, they were fragrant too. That painting is on my red bubble called 'out of the depths'. My daughter has that one. It still seems okay it hasn't come off the canvas. thanks for watching donna. see you in the ning nang nong.

  • Hi, Mo! I've been watching your encaustic videos again ... have a question. Is the work "sealed" after polishing? Is there a special sealer used? Love the videos! You do a great job of explaining everything. Thanks, Mo!

  • you satelite pieces are gorgeous! They have so much depth and look so lush. Love the vids.

    More! More! lol

    Hugs

    debsx

  • thanks missdoobs glad you like the work and the vids. I am pretty busy organising a wedding for my little girl at the moment but will do more vids when that is over.

  • Hi enjoyed watching this video. Can you also do this effect with Acrylic paint?

  • Hi Marigoldblu thanks for subscribing and watcing my video. To answer your question no you can't use acrylic witht the wax and damar resin they are incompatible. You need the oil based paints and a lot of people have suggested that you squeeze out your paint onto kitchen paper overnight to release some of the moisture from the paint. I haven't tried this yet but will have a go soon and let you know if it works better.

  • I really enjoyed your videos, excellent. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • you have so much fun..love the new vids

can i come over and play?

    hugs

  • anytime

  • thanks for the vid. Really enjoyed it and i learned a lot

  • so glad you got something out of it.

  • Thanks so much for sharing your talent. You are an amazing artist. Love all the pieces.

    Peace

    Love

    and

    Art ...... I am so glad I found you. : D

  • Thanks so much charlene.

  • I realy love to see experiments, I love to do it myself, and I'm very pleased by watching your video's (I'm sorry if I make stupid language mistakes)

  • Thanks; that is very cool. Look forward to more.

  • Mo, I love how you show this... I"m new watching you and I love it. I love beeswax.. Hey, what is the Damar crystals for? Do you need to use them at all? You produce so many canvases. Would be so cool to make huge mosaic wall art.

  • The damar crystals are hardened sap from a tree. They make the beeswax harden. the final paint surface becomes quite hard and because of the beeswax you can polish it to a high sheen which looks really good. You probably do need them otherwise your wax would crack and fall off the surface. I use my mini canvasses as test pieces but I do like them(they only cost $2) so you can see if the treatment will work before you go ahead with a large piece.

  • Yes! keep on breaking those rules!

  • Yep I see it as my artistic duty,he,he!

  • Mo, I love that you break the rules!!

  • I hate rules especially in painting. If other artists hadn't broken the rules we never would have got impressionism and all those other ism's would we.

  • I love the effect the spray paint did. It's a fantastic land expression. The way the paint flakes and pulls away is like a range. Fabulous Mo :o) you break those rules!

  • I have tried aerosol, enamel, oil and acrylic on the top now and they all do different things when heated but I do like the enamel paint the best it flows really well.

  • Yeah break those rules...i do ;) So cool i am going to try encaustic when i can find the ingredience::;)

  • should be easy to find. Yep I am a really decadent rulebreaker!!

  • I forgot to mention that I love those drippy edges!

  • yep I want to do a whole painting with the drippy bits.

  • Wonderful, Mo. I have seen demos on a couple of different kinds of encaustic painting and your experimental techniques have BY FAR the most interesting results! Such great textures and unique "rule breaking" processes. Scrumptious!!! Thanks for sharing with us!

  • Great work Mo

    Now

When do I get my heat gun Back ?

    XXX

    M

  • Whose heat gun??

  • You are a master! or is that mistress? I need coffee. Fantastic work. Thanks for sharing. I also wait for more...

  • Thanks for that I delight in being the mistress of the wax.

  • Thats cool "Mo" creative nice effects there. Looking good! Its good to hear from you. It really is!

  • glad you like it.
