  • welcome to the cubs. we needed speed soooooooooo bad

  • Where is fernando perez now? Nobody knows. Its funny how the caption mentions delmon young and carl crawford as rising stars along with perez.

  • wow i met this guy before

  • wow he talks really white

  • Cuz he's not afro American, he's a son of Afro Cubans. Just like sons of Korean, Chinese, or Indian immigrants speak normal English.

  • i just met him today at the rays game....hes going to be real good one day. im tellin you right now

  • my dad met this guy in new jersey and has some pictures.they met because my dad works for Zico pure coconut water and fernando perez was giving it out to people at an event.he really digs the drink and it gives Zico some publicity with the MLB like manny ramirez who was in an interview drinkin zico and saying that it was the best.

  • I saw him play in a game in Phoenix in 2006. It was the first time going to a summer/minor leage baseball game. This was my first experience to a live game also...at age 39.

After the game, he began signing and tossing items back and forth from the field to the stands. He noticed my curiousity, smiled and tossed his white batting glove towards me. I grabbed it in amazement and said "Mr. Perez, could you sign it for me? Please.". He smiled, I tossed, he signed and tossed it back! :-)

  • See american dummies even blacks can have Spanish lastnames.

  • shut the fuck up , stupid spic

  • sign me up

  • man he is doing good now

  • Welcome to the Rays my friend!

  • Fernando Perez has a ton of talent. He has worked his way up through the minors and is now playing exceptionally great for the Durham Bulls in AAA. If there is an injury to any Rays outfielder, I would expect him to be called up. In fact, he may be called up even without an injury. Despite the fantastic moves that were made by the Rays during the offseason, they still couldn't quite get a starting right fielder. Fernando Perez, who can play all of the outfield positions, could be the answer.

  • what about Justin Ruggiano? He never gotten a chance to play everyday instead Maddon insist on marching Swingin Jonny Gomes. Gomes has no business with the team. I like both Ruggiano and Perez.

  • I like Ruggiano as well. He plays hard and has proved he can play in the bigs. But I am just so excited for this man, Fernando Perez!

  • ruggiano hasn't impressed me at all. he's hitting .187 and let a routing fly drop in front of him costing the winning run the last angels home game. perez is that man, speed, pop, great glove and attitude. he could be the leadoff hitter in the next coupleof years with some plate discipline

  • i am a rays fan. I try to go to any game. No matter how bad they are, I always try to go and support

  • i've noticed the stands are filling up to see the rays play, thats cool, but what sucks is the fans only go when they win, look at last season you could hear the crickets chirping, support your team win or lose

  • That would happen to every team in the majors. If the Boston Red Sox lost 100 games next season, I am sure their fan attendence would decrease.

  • He played for single A Visalia Oaks in California. I knew him well and i actually had dinner with him once (him and Evan Longoria) Hes a really nice guy............

  • He´s Dominican.

  • Um, no. He's American, of Cuban descent.

  • If he can play right field, there's room for him now. Bad news is that Baldelli has been diagnosed with a mitochondrial metabolic abnormality, a genetic problem, & may never play again. Perez is a very bright, well spoken guy. If he doesn't make the opening day roster he might just get a call-up later on.

  • He will probably get a call up. However, another speedster Nathan Naynes seems to be doing great in Tampa Bay. But I love how Fernando Perez looks so far. Good hitter, great on base percentage and excellent speed!

  • This guy looks like a great baseball player. I can't wait till' the 08 season!

  • he has class.

  • Feranando Perez went to an Ivy League college, Columbia. He has a shot to make the team in 2008.

  • He made the Southern League All-Star Team, but oddly he's not listed among Baseball America's top 10 Rays prospects.

  • He's got class. Tampa Bay's talent pool is definitely enviable

  • he is very well spoken i wonder what he is like with fans

  • He likes to chomp gum

  • He's well spoken. I envy Tampa's prospect crop.
