I love this stuff: Keeps me grounded. Just when I think I'm starting to get good, I listen to something this like. Like watching the old Tiger Woods play golf. Some folks are just wired differently (and better).
HOLY. That run at 4:09 got him struggling, simply amazing! This is possibly the best thing I have seen on youtube until now. Insane playing by Vignola, I am sure he has developed his technique for "ergonomic" (?) playing, but hope he doesn´t have any problems in the future with that wrist, since his playing is just insane!. Peplowski shredding!
One of the first recorded jazz songs has 110000 views.... while the most recently recorded piece of shit has probably millions... Eat mercury 99% of the youth population.
this is the olimpo of guitar with paco de lucia tico tico in late 60 , stochelo rosemberg improvvisation n1 ,william kanesinger turkish march ,and very few other performances
Frank has really done an amazing job pulling that old style of jazz guitar into the modern era, i saw him at this really small venue in D.C. a couple months ago, and he was tremelo picking and diminished chord blues running his way through tunes from this one to the freaking pink panther
I swear I could just float up in the air while listening to this, and burning at those speeds, they could send me across the galaxy. Get me a space suit and I'll meet you on the moon!
Holy Ja-moley Batman! What an incredible performance! Love Ken's chord changes and Frank chasing him right behind - a remarkable duet. Back to watch it again, and again, and again. Wowzie!
OH CRAP, this is one of the most awesome videos I have seen! Vignola´s playing is just insane, and he looks as he is not doing any efforts, not even a drop of sweat in his forehead!!! Peplowski is awesome, a clarinet shredder (LOL), imagine him trading some licks with Benny Goodman. Simply amazing performance, love it.
@lalbruiz He was one of Benny Goodmans tenor players, there's even a movie on youtube where you can see Peplowski play with him (no lick-trading though) with him.
OMG LOL the pentatonic run at 3:02 was so funny lol. just such intense jazz phrasing and runs and then the most basic pentatonic lick ever thrown in lol idk i just thought that was so awesome and funny. but the whole guitar solo was amazing i thought
=]. I agree, though his choice of how to play the lick was great though! Honestly, I knew it was a pentatonic scale...but I just just let that pass me by.
Frank is so cool -- great energy. I first heard him at Strawberry Music Fest with Marc O'Connor's "Hot Swing Trio"
After the first barrage of tunes, they came out for solo pieces -- he played Tico Tico for about five minutes - turned it everyway but loose. There's a great post of Frank doing Ellington's "C Jam Blues" with Tommy E.
I completely agree. He is, along with Paquito D'Rivera, one of the nicest people I've ever met. It's certainly a nice contradiction for the arrogance of the OTHER jazz clarinet on the scene today...not mentioning any names...
This makes me want to smash my guitar and burn it. It is one thing to be inspired by another's greatness... but this level of playing makes me feel like a talentless piece of crap.
I know what you mean.... I feel very talentless after watching this.... this really makes me want to start up on the sax again, cuz that's where I excel, but at the same time, I'm pushing myself to improve technically on the guitar. Great piece of music though eh? What a performance!
