I moved to Redmond when I was 2 in '74 until '83, we had a few super good snow storms when I was a kid. Our house was at the top of the hill on 143rd ave.N.E., lots of good sledding! Wheee!
@HardKore5250 It snows once or twice a year most years, but never like this. Usually it's a wet mess that clogs up the roads for the evening commute but that's gone the next day. The snowstorm in the video was one of the worst snowstorms we've had in years. Everything shut down. It snowed heavily every day for about a week and it didn't melt off completely for two or three weeks.
It does rain, though. Pretty much every day October through May. It's a light, constant drizzle.
i live in redmond, on top of a hill. that year was fucking DANK. was during a "la nina" year, 09 was a el nino, so thats why we didnt get shit. but i hope we get snow like '08 again FK YEAH, would be so much fun to do the melb shuffle on that.
Well, don't expect it to be like this every year. A storm this heavy probably happens once every twenty years around here. Last year, there was barely a dusting the entire winter. Also, snow typically isn't enjoyable here. Pretty much any amount of snow sends locals into a panic and usually ends up shutting down the city, largely because we don't have road crews that can handle the snow.
Some of these scenes were near DigiPen, on the NE 51st St. bridge over 520.
@RedbeardMathPirate I live in Tx and it snows like every 2 years at best. We ALWAYS freak out in joy and some what panic. And when it snows here, it lasts like 2-5 hours haha. I won't have a car either btw when I move. I'll be most likely walking EVERYWHERE.
@RedbeardMathPirate Yeah I'm only 14 and I've never seen anything like the storm we had over the pre-Christmas time of 2008. It was intense but winter 2009-2010 we had literally no snow. Not even a dusting. Nothing at all. Nada.
I also live in Redmond and my family remembers the "Great Snowstorm of '08". It wasn't quite as bad where we were, but still impressive--we were able to build a giant snow fort.
I was in Tacoma/Gig Harbor for much of the snow. It was quite a sight to see. Snow on the ground. We don't get snow very often, and when it does, it's a bitch to get around, unless you have studded tires, or chains.
