i think they're saying that because he's trying to play the blues. and instead of focusing on feeling he focuses on speed once again. when he does some classic pentatonic riffs they sound great. but then he rips into IMO more repetitive speed runs.

BTW I saw your video. if your the one on the left I dig your style. and I noticed you did a pentatonic/mixolydian type thing once. I like doing those myself its pretty fun to mix the two scales.

Dude thats fast.... but you forgot the blues on it. The problem is the lack of good sounding melodies. It just sounds like scales and not melodies. Your technique is great, you know you can make better melodies without trying to be a "malmsteen like" guitar player. Speed is not everything
