And if you need salt? Mangroove excretes salt and deposit it on their leaves.

  • So, to be honest. You think a pee drinking, poo eating bug lover whit a huge team with lots of food and drink, is better than a man that show's us how to REALLY survive?

  • You can relate to their feeling of isolation!? You have a freakin' camera crew and a helicopter on standby you berk!

  • 10 year team deckout veteran

  • I believe him when he says he has no trouble finding food. If all the survivalist got stuck on a Island he would be the fattest. I like his style.

  • Kinhell

    That crab was huge! ffs

Ray never fails to entertain me,he looks like assistant manager in mcdonalds, but hes quite the opposite.

    Get in ray lad!!

  • Ray is the king chef of the wild. If you think about it, sticking with the chubby dude when trying to find food isn't such bad logic. :)

  • look "bushtucker man" he shows you how you can dig into the sand on the beach in certain areas to get water, he dug about a foot down and the hole filled up with fresh water..

  • It's a mud crab

  • wtf thats a huge crab

  • You might be in with a shot

  • lol

  • And what's wrong with that you clown ?

Ray and Les are good friend's and your comment has zero relavence to anything.

  • Where do I say there is anything wrong with it? I simply watched both videos in one hour and noticed they were the same, and made a comment about it. Fuck off.

  • No point in having a debate about it your just making your self look like a troll.

    END IT !

  • Follow your own advice

  • That poor little crab-- looked delicious :)

Yay for the food chain! Protein is necessary!

  • hahahahahaha that is so true

  • the crabs looked juciy

  • If crabs use body language, this one's clearly saying "huh? wh--, hey, what the hell?" Poor little guy.

  • Hope you remember that next time you eat meat.

  • lol they r everywere

  • I would've wanted some salt and butter on mine, lol

  • damn thats a big crab

  • Yumi, he eats like king in that place.

  • wow can anyone tell me what type of spear did he use cuz he like so easily spear throguh the crab shell

  • 3 prong paralyzer tip fishing spear, self made, made of scrap steal prongs driven in a thick pole. This type of fishing spear is present since paleolithic times. Very easy to make, simple to use.

Crabs are not very hard to pierce with steal prongs, you know :-)

  • Why did he place the green leaf on top of the crab while it was cooking?

  • To steam the crab within it's own juices.

  • crab people, crab people, taste like crab, talk like people

  • lol south park

  • Oh man, that grab meat looks good.

  • yeah that's what i was just thinking hehehe

  • I want bite of that crab too..... :)

  • craaaab!

  • "I can really relate to the sense of isolation" Ok, there's no need to pretend for TV. He does have a camera crew following him around.

  • UM explain to us HOW it tastes like urine? I've had raw crab before and though it doesn't taste very nice it doesn't taste like urine and yes I've had a variety: blue, snow, king, dungenous, mud (like the one Ray is eating), rock, and reef. None of them tasted like urine raw.

  • So you've tasted urine?

  • A Jap, during WW2 made it to an Island after ship sunk and with an American base, hid there for years not knowing the war had ended. He didn't cook food so smoke wouldn't reveal him. Finally, years later he returned to civilization with superb health, better than his contemporaries and became a study for science. The secret that stopped him aging? Raw food.

  • Not disagreeing with you there but the term "Jap" is a racial term.

  • Yes, the Japs are a Race of people. Right. Then there are the Brits, Canucks, Yanks, Finns, Aussies etc. Some are Races and some are living in "melting pots". I live in a "melting pot". I am anglo saxon by genetic decent. I believe genetics doesn't matter much just cultural values. Some cultures are more corrupt than others evidently. That makes me a "Culturist" I suppose. Raw truth is as good as raw food often it seems.

  • Apparently cooking of red meat can produce carcinogens, and perhaps this is true of other foods also. However, cooking breaks down many of the indigestible compounds and frees up a lot of nutrients that would be otherwise unavailable. For example, raw carrots contain more vitamin C, but cooking makes available 90% of the beta carotene compared to 5% for unprocessed carrots. Therefore one should eat both raw and cooked food. The best method of cooking is probably steaming or boiling.

  • meat is not a vegetable?

  • actually boiling broccoli releases more of the good stuff from it :p

  • no the jap that was in hiding didn't eat raw food, he steam cooked his food (a common japanese style of cooking) and only cooked at night to prevent the smoke. They couldn't see the fire because he cooked it in a well hidden/covered cave.

  • jesus christ no starving there!

  • me too

  • who gives a shit, that crab looks good and i want one

  • same here, just look at that big flab of leg meat. No wonder Ray is a bit chubby!

  • LMAO

  • yeah me too.

  • Too many Big Macs I see.

  • for humans cooking food chewing it breaks down better more energy also tastes better and you can help to clean water with fire by boiling

  • All animals eat their food raw, only humans cook, and we get most of the acute and degenerative disease. Is there a connection? Of course. In an outdoors situation eating food raw makes as much sense as if one eats sushi at a food outlet or has a salad with raw nuts and seeds at home. Fire for heat but not cooking, saves time and energy to eat raw. Raw shellfish is clean enough in pristine enviroment.

  • We can eat food raw..but today there is much more diseases, viruses and dangerous bacterias from man's technology cause before our ancestor ate raw until they found fire & exploited it!:-)I think we evolve through time cause of our different eviroment! But I already ate raw bunny tasted like shit a little!

  • Rawfood is actually a personal dietary practise, predominantly vegan fare however the occasional bit of raw eggs or meat has been factored in. It's been almost 20 years for me so maybe I've devovlved by now ;-)

  • Actually I suspect that those of us who have survived the centuries are better able to handle toxins as that's what cooking creates. Trouble is that cooked food eating leaves plenty of intracellular sewage so that if one does encounter a toxin producing bacteria that adds enough to the toxic load to make one ill or dead, then the bacteria has much garbage to feed on.

  • So it seem that to be garbage free at the cellular level makes for nothing that the nasty bacteria can proliferate on. No garbage no flies in other words.

  • actually.. cooking kills many of the toxins that raw food contains.

  • it's not just food or the act of cooking food. we eat a lot of processed foods with preservatives/chemicals in them. we also expose ourselves to far more chemicals in the environment (air/water contaminants) than most animals, although that is beginning to change now with increasing pollution. furthermore, i know for sure that raw shellfish in mangroves harbor a lot of parasites and bacteria that would make you very ill if eaten without proper cooking.

  • Youtube lost my first attempt... here goes again. Parasites are a problem due to people being internally unclean and therefore a living and breeding ground for them. Almost no-one is clean due to modern diet. Herbs for the unclean can kill parasites if one knows what herbs to use. For eating the Chimps know best. They have the same digestive system people do. Their diet? All raw and according to biological design. People like Chimps are not carnivors. Or there's Adam and Eve. They ate healthy.

  • yes adam and eve ate healthy...for the most part hehe

  • WOOF...handsome guy! with or without the crab....:-)

  • look at it at exacly 01:48 it looks like a hand

  • that crab looks so tasty!

  • YES!

  • he had 6 pieces of bacon on his show once from a package, i was like O.o, how did you make that and make the package xD

  • LOL nice. but honestly..i wouldve asked the same thing xD

  • Ray mears is brilliant. He's quite tubby though, probably becaause he knows how to find and eat everything.

  • It's so hes ready for when he does have to survive in the wild where food will be short.

    Built up fat reserves.

  • Know when people say "it tastes like chicken" ?

The crab meat looked like chicken :p

  • If you try a search engine like google just type telescope snails, insted of trying to type what he said.

  • how to u pronounce/spell telecopian snails?

  • yummy lol

  • yer lol

  • the crab looks pretty good lmao
