They are beta test channels . In 2014 google will no longer let youtube users ride for free why they loose millions on lost bandwith. What you seeing now are the first steps . By the end of 2014 you will have an acct that will allow you to keep a credit card on file so when you upload your video google can charge you for the upload and bandwith that the video will generate . Does it suck now ? YES ! Will it suck later ? NO ! Lot's more to come on the design it's self.

What really peeved me off the most is that the friends list was taken away and was incorporated into subscriptions because "it is more streamlined". How the hell is it more streamlined when you have to go through dozens of subscriptions to find friends?!

Thanks for your video, I was quite active on Youtube a few years back.....I'm starting a new project and so I am building a new channel and I've noticed how plain and without expression the new channel design is.....I'm tempted to look elsewhere to continue this project. Are there any other viable alternatives to Youtube out there? As a mass exodus to a new site by former Youtube users would certainly be noticed by the folks who wish to take away our freedom of expression.

Repost this if you don't want the new channel design. It turns your page into a bad social network-ish thing. It limits the uploader's creativity. It annoys people with a feed of your recent activity and stuff when they just WANT TO SEE THE VIDEOS YOU WORKED HARD ON!

The YouTube's channel is where I have the MOST Problem with just like you spinnernet1. I REALLY HATE the New YouTube channel Design/Layout. Have you check out the Video Manager then to the right of your videos you will see the View Stats and the All Comments. In the View Stats and the All Comments do you see how small the numbers are that tells you about your Views, Comments, Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down. The new layout of the YouTube channel and Video Manager give me a Disgusting and gross Shakes.
Thanks for posting this. The butchering of the Favorites/Uploads feature pisses me off the most. I like being able to scroll through my/others lists and watch the videos all in one place on a channel page - having to go back and forth is bullshit.

I like the current though. It doesn't have a space where you can put the URL in for a video to play as your featured video and I haven't found a way to mark Activity private. I am wondering if there will be additional features in the changeover. Or maybe they won't change.

@Hillsillverr That is right - a degrade. You can't even watch your videos on your own channel - it redirects it to the site page. That is what having a channel is all about to make, save/bookmark/collect and view your videos. It is sort of a bad decision like the companies who have answering machines with numerous options and you never get to speak to a real person.

The YouTube's channel is where I have the MOST Problem with just like you spinnernet1. I REALLY HATE the New YouTube channel Design/Layout. Have you check out the Video Manager then to the right of your videos you will see the View Stats and the All Comments. In the View Stats and the All Comments do you see how small the numbers are that tells you about your Views, Comments, Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down. The new layout of the YouTube channel and Video Manager give me a Disgusting and gross Shakes.

@3434343434utubeguy That is right because you can't go any further in choosing options if you exceed the amount of characters. The new version takes some getting use to, but it seems okay. I like the current though. It doesn't have a space where you can put the URL in for a video to play as your featured video and I haven't found a way to mark Activity private. I am wondering if there will be additional features in the changeover. Or maybe they won't change.

the new channel design just has numbers-i cant find a way to make it show who's subscribed to me or who i have subscribed to.
we are not numbers-we are individuals with friends and followers-with likes,dislikes and like mindedness.
so i have changed back to the old style.

I've kept to my old channel design but it looks like we're all going over to the new layout on March 1st - whether we like it or not. Can't stand the new layout - why fix what ain't broken?.
Doesn't even seem to be a channel appearance edit option either. Damn annoying as I like my old channel setup and I've had good feedback on it too. Now all we've got to look forward to is the grey uniformity of conformity.

That is what having a channel is all about to make, save/bookmark/collect and view your videos. It is sort of a bad decision like the companies who have answering machines with numerous options and you never get to speak to a real person.
