  • OMG. i love your videos.. i was recently diagnosed with diabetes this june.. it was NOT fun... i really enjoy ur videos and they deffinately make me laugh!

  • Thank you sooooooo much!!!

  • I love your videos Bill, I was wandering whats your opinion about the omnipod ? People seem to love it, I'm about to get one, thanks again and keep the great work, it has been tremendously helpful.

  • Thanks for the comment. The omnipod is a great pump. The freedom from the tubing some people really enjoy. The biggest thing to remember is to take your time starting on the pump the right way. Getting your basal insulin levels is key. The work upfront will be well worth it. Insulin pumps in general for me, are better way to manage your diabetes.

  • Thanks so much, you are such a generous person, for me, having the disease has taught me to be humble and is a GREAT lesson to learn early in life. I've been on lantus, so I don't understand about basal levels, where can I find info about it ? All the best and thanks again hermano.

  • Basal is your background insulin. So kind of like what your lantus was doing. The nice thing about insulin pumps it that it only uses fast acting insulin, so you can better manage your background insulin needs. For example while sleeping or during different times in the day your basal needs maybe be different. Getting the right basal pattern is more than half the battle when pumping. You can google basal or I would suggest getting the "pumping insulin" book by john walsh

  • I can't wait to see more

  • whats the quote you said about the beetus?

  • Sorry so long for the response...lol... But the quote is "the only thing constant in diabetes is change"

  • I'm 15 and i was just diagnosed with diabetes type 1 two weeks ago and i just wanted to say thanks for all the help, you make diabetes sound like no big deal

  • Cesar, I hope things are well. Anything I can do to help let me know. I've been thru it all! Try as hard as you can to manage your Diabetes now, learn as much as you can. So glad you found me!!!

  • you seem like a very happy diabetic you keep making vids to inform people you are very knowledgeable........

  • Thanks alot!

  • Happy diabetic is a registered trade mark.

  • Really. Guess I am lucky I'm 1HappyDaibetic

  • Hey Bill - thanks SOOO much for your video! I too have had T1DM for 19 years and was reluctant to try insulin pumps (more for cosmetic reasons) but now would never go back! I just want to post to you and any other readers interested in diabetes out there that there is a fantastic book out called "Cheating Destiny," which is the truly the best book I've read about life with diabetes etc. I highly encourage all to check it out.

  • Dr.D Thank again for a great comment! That book is on my shelf actually and heard the same review on it by a female pumper (thought I would though that out there :-)

Me and my pump... At least I name mine. I like that, keeps me motovated. I like my funny Alarms I have put in to remind me to "TEST BABY :-)" or "10:30pm -----."

To be able to actually see my remaining insulin from boluses prior up to the minute is a gift from the diabetes gods at times.

  • I would hope that within the next five year, stem cell, DNA, and immume research could lead the way towards a cure, so that insulin shots, pills, and blood glucose monitors can become the thing of the past.

I'm not a diabetic (yet), but, I am still fighting a war over the disease (even though I don't have it), so that technology can put you off insulin and glucose monitors.

  • I have been told since I got Diabetes that there was going to be a cure in 5 years.

Whether a reality or not. Advances in pumps have been more beneficial then the "wait for the cure" group.

"The only thing constant with Diabetes is Change"

    "Change equals Opportunity"

    :-)

  • Thank you for your videos. It is nice to see a person that has diabetes taking control of your care and not letting diabetes rule your life. Keep the videos coming. I look forward to seeing many more in the future.

  • Thank you agian!

  • You're great! :).

  • Subscribed!! Love your chatty way of speaking to us, keep 'em coming :)

  • I almost gave up until I read your comment. I will do my best to keep'em coming. I am glad everyone enjoys them.

  • Awesome.

This diabetic likes MDI a whole lot more than having tape irritating his skin, but I'm happy to see someone with a channel on diabetes.

I hope it turns out the way you're planning it.

  • Thank you very much I can tell you mean it.

MDI is, well it's exactually WHAT MDI is. Multiple (more then three) Daily (as much as I personally shower) Injections (Shots or pens.)

Pick your insulin, and you got your MDI. It's a great therapy. I have used most my life.

Pumps for some are ????? Question Marks. Pumps are different, none are alike, and you think you heard one whisle and dixie.

A Pump is a challenge to get serious to some... Funny thing.. I might go back to MDI for bit
