Yes, she's quite a poet. She used to do readings here at the FOX Venice, in Venice, CA in the early '80's. I first saw her at the Tower Theater in Phila., circa 1978. Glad you liked this vid! I'd love to check Patti out in NYC.
I am blessed for living here in NY where Patti often presents her social commentary about the times through her poetry readings. I had last seen her @ The Beacon Theatre in The Big Apple where she performed the songs from her recent cd. Her rendition of "White Rabbit" had sent a spine-chilling sensation down my back. One can often see her on Spring Street down in Greenwich Village.
I feel blessed to have discovered a fellow Patti Smith enthusiast-affecionado.

A revelation this. Rescuing the song from its kitschy indian ambience. Turns out to be quite good, and excellent stuff for Patti.
