Ah yes, this video. There is some very twisted imagery in here that has always confused me and made me a little tense... Check around 3:43, when Alan is having one of those visions. There is an image there of two heads. The one on the right is an obvious doll head, but the one on the left... I'm never quite sure. And it looks and smiles at me. And it's bloody. It's so lo-fi that I'm not sure what to make of it. Does anyone recognize the image? What is it? :o

To me this is the paranoid disillusion and feeling of helplessness we all feel when we hear that someone, especially a child has been killed. Alan feels so useless and disturbed by the inhumanity in the world but knows he physically can do nothing to change it shown by how slow his response is. There is anger at the people responsible for gun crime. His 'tingling feeling' is the moment Alan's heart sinks, appalled at hearing a life has been taken away unjustly. He wishes he'd felt it earlier.

I think that the point David Firth is trying to make in this cartoon other than weak gun laws is the irony that those who want to do the most good in this world can't like alan has an exceptional talent that could be used amazingly if he had proper resources such as a police force helping but the disability of no arms or legs quickly causes others to push him away as somebody who has no value. the sadness + inspiration of this is that despite being alone he will always try to save people =].
