Amy was at school when she found out, hence the line "Playground school bell rings again, rain clouds come to play again." What she's saying in the song is what she felt when she found out, and since she was so young, she didn't fully understand the concept of death.

Just because we don't personally know them doesn't mean we can't feel a small twinge of sadness for the loss of another life. Exbrolly2000 didn't have to say flat out that he/she didn't care at all about that person's passing, or about the tragic loss that will affect someone for the rest of their life. Saying that can hurt a person when they're already going through an emotionally hard time.
